Mother Earth News Fair Belton, TX February 20-21
We are heading to Texas for the Mother Earth News Fair, the first fair held in the Lone Star State!
From February 21-21 in Belton, TX you can enjoy over 150 workshops from the leading authorities on Modern Homesteading, Animal Husbandry, Organic Gardening, Green Building, Natural Health, Renewable Energy, Real Food and more!
And of course we will be in the exhibitor hall all weekend in booth #'s 2607-2707 (unless we are away trying on Stetsons and taste-testing the famous Texas BBQ!)
For #GivingTuesday this past December the staff of New Society Publishers decided to support Sanctuary Gabriola (SAGA), an organization based in our home community of Gabriola Island, BC, formed for the sole purpose of bringing two refugee families to Gabriola and facilitating their adjustment to Canadian life with physical, emotional, and financial support.
SAGA has been advised that a refugee family of 6, including Mom, Dad, daughter age 10, son 8, daughter 5, and son age 3 will be arriving no later than the end of February. Volunteers have been working tirelessly to secure clothing, household items, and housing for the families. They have raised approximately $35,000 to date.
If you would like to support SAGA in their efforts you can make a financial donation online at: https://donate.mcccanada.ca/registry/sanctuary-gabriola which is the Mennonite Central Committee authorized to issue charitable donation receipts. You can also donate at the Gabriola Credit Union, Account 770274. If you are local to the area and would like to donate personal items please contact:sagabriola@gmail.com. To learn more about the work of SAGA see their Facebook page SAGA Facebook Page or the website: https://sanctuarygabriola.wordpress.com.
