Dear Friends:

If you haven't already, would you take a moment to manage your communication preferences for the year? If you are new to our community and do not select "Valor Weekly" from the checklist, you will not continue to receive the newsletter every Sunday. If you're returning, feel free to ignore these preferences unless you would like to change which communications you receive. Thank you!

Tailgate Time

The first home football game kicks off in less than two weeks, which means it's time for our annual tailgate party! Bring a friend, bring your family, and come enjoy food from vendors like Costa Vida, Chick-Fil-A, Kona Ice, and more, as well as games and prizes on the back lawn.
Then, head inside the stadium for the nationally televised Adidas "Friday Night Stripes" game of the week, featuring your Valor Eagles vs. Cedar Grove, GA.
See you there!

Senior Welcoming Committee

The annual tradition of our seniors welcoming students to their first day of school continued last Thursday. The energy is contagious - we are all so excited for the start of another school year!

Set Up Your Volunteer Profile

This year, one way of increasing our school safety measures is by adding the capability to instantly identify every volunteer in the building. In order to do this, we need all parents to fill out a new profile and check areas of interest.
With this new system, you will check in at the front desk to volunteer and receive a sticky nametag to be worn in the buildings at all times. Thank you for your partnership to increase safety and security on our campus.

Course Change Requests

Students in need of a course change must go to the Student portal of the Valor website and click on the "Course Change Request Form" box to download the required document. This form needs to be filled out fully, including a student and parent signature. All requests must be completed and turned in to the student's Academic & College Counselor before August 29 at 12:00 pm to be considered. Regardless of submitting a course change request, students are expected to attend all classes until they have been notified that a change has been made to their schedule.

Tutoring

Valor Academic Support offers tutoring before, during, and after school. We offer tutoring with faculty who are familiar with Valor's curriculum, teachers, and assignments or highly vetted peer tutors.
Students - We are looking for excited, new peer tutors! Receive service hours or payment while helping your peers thrive.
For more information, contact Academic Support.

Set Up MySchoolBucks Account

Students can enjoy lunch in the Commons, Bistro, or Cafe every day for no additional cost. Snacks and breakfast items can be purchased in the Bistro and Cafe using a pre-loaded MySchoolBucks balance. Cash and credit cards are not accepted.
*This year, the Bistro will be open to purchase snacks and drinks from 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Service Hour Requirement for Discovery Teams

Approved service hours will be required for all students who wish to apply for a Discovery experience. Please review pre-approved service opportunities here and submit all hours for approval by October. For instructions and to submit approved hours, click here.
