NETRF 2021 Annual Report Available Online

Almost every day, patients contact NETRF asking if the latest treatments and clinical trials may be an option for them.  Whether they have had neuroendocrine cancer for six months or six years, patients are searching for more effective treatments and cures.  So is NETRF.

A clinical trial today is built on the work of many scientists in laboratories over the past 10-15 years trying to understand why tumors form, grow, and metastasize by studying what happens in those cells.  NETRF funds this basic research so drug development and clinical trials can happen.  We support researchers early in their careers so they can dedicate themselves to NET research.  If NETRF does not fund this research, it will not happen.

We are proud to present our 2021 Annual Report recognizing  all our important donors, like you, who make our work possible. The report is dedicated to the Margie and Robert E. Petersen Foundation, whose transformational gifts enabled NETRF to grow and fund research around the globe.

While the Petersen Foundation gifts ensure NETRF’s ability to fund NET research well into the future, we share the sense of urgency for quicker progress with patients and families.  There are more innovative research ideas now than ever before and NETRF needs to fund the research necessary to lead to clinical trials and new treatments.

Please enjoy the Annual Report, and if you share our commitment to NET research, make your gift to NETRF so we can continue this important work. We need your help. If you give today, you will be funding the scientists who are seeking our support this year to discover tomorrow’s cures. Read the report here

NETWise Episode 19: Research

Episode 19 is the first of two episodes that will discuss a topic near and dear to us here at NETRF: NET research. Advancing NET research is the core of our mission, and it’s a crucial need, because NETs are extremely complicated cancers and there is still a lot the medical community needs to learn about them. Listen here.

A Champion for NETRF

NETRF Champion Society member Erica Roberts remembers her father telling her from a very early age how important it was to surround herself with positive influences.

William Preston Roberts, Jr. (known as Tipps to family and friends) was that positive influence on Erica and a community that loved him. William died from neuroendocrine cancer in 2016, after an eight-year struggle with the disease.
Erica makes a monthly donation to NETRF in memory of her beloved father. Read her story here, and learn more about becoming a monthly donor here

"We want to raise money for your mom's cancer."

Middle school Ukulele musicians perform benefit concert for NETRF
When middle school chorus teacher Shane Peters’ mom was diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer in 2020, the first thing he did was Google it, and NETRF popped up.

“I am so immensely grateful to find NETRF and have immediate access to such important and incredibly helpful information,” he said. “Neither my mom nor I had ever heard of NETs, and your website was one of the places that gave us exactly what we needed to navigate her diagnosis.”
Read about how Shane's students raised $6,000 for NETRF here.
