UNO Chapter of NSBE Hosts Mental Health Fundraiser |
According to research, 1 in 5 young people have or will develop a mental illness in their lifetime. The UNO Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) has shown tremendous support throughout the semester to bring awareness towards mental health illnesses.
On Wednesday, November 9, NSBE hosted a ‘Smash Hits’ Car Smashing event with the UNO Counseling Center. The goal of the fund-raising event was to allow students, faculty & staff to relieve stress by striking a car with a sledgehammer. If students needed additional assistance, UNO Counseling Services was also on-site prepared to sign students up for a private counseling session by a licensed therapist. Proceeds from this event were donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
