See you tonight at 5:45 for Wednesday Re:treat supper of soup and sandwiches followed by a Ministry Fair highlighting all the pieces that make us church at Parkway Hills. You can walk around and read through the small group posters on the wall, stop at tables containing information about ways we serve our community and world, and listen to some community partners share about the ways Parkway Hills aids them in their work.  Karen Robison, Executive Director of MadCAAP will be present, Clayton Pickle will share about the scouting ministry, a Parkway Hills member will give a summary of our mission and ministry day apart, and we are hoping to have a representative from East Flora Elementary and Big House Books. Come be inspired to join or begin a new ministry. I hear some of the beautiful quilts made by our quilters will also be on display!  It will be an evening that truly shows we do best what we do together and that every piece matters. Our Bridge and Youth will join the adults for the Ministry Fair and our kids 4th and under will participate in a science night in the Garden room.

As always, we ask that you RSVP so we may be good stewards of our resources. To RSVP for Wednesday, February 7 click here or call the church office by noon Monday.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Mission & Ministry Day Apart; your voice matters so much in our church, community, and world. If you didn’t make it, you’ll have the chance to hear more about it tonight at 5:45 at the Ministry Fair at Wednesday Re:treat, and we hope you’ll join us for our next Mission & Ministry session in May!
We are excited to partner with East Flora Elementary for their School Garden this Spring. We will have two representatives from East Flora at the Ministry Fair tonight, Jan. 31. Come check out their table, grab a flyer and explore how you can assist with the School Garden. Contact Haven if you would like to volunteer.

Two more children's beds were delivered and set up last week as part of PHUMC's Beds for Kids Ministry.  Men from TOMBS (a community prayer group) provided the manual labor and transportation for the beds. Tonight a model of a kid's bed will be displayed at the Ministry Fair in the Worship Center at 5:45 at Wednesday Re:treat. You can ask questions and learn more about this ministry that makes a difference for children in our community who have no beds.

Cheer on your team and bring a can or more of soup to donate to MadCAAP. Donations will be collected through Sunday, Feb. 11. The display is set up in the foyer of the Worship Center, so you can bring your cans of soup tonight at 5:45 at the Ministry Fair and Wednesday Re:treat.

Save the Date for the party of the year! Start the Party VBS will be Sunday, June 9 - Wednesday, June 12. Children that are entering K5 - entering 5th grade are welcome to attend. Wednesday, June 12 will be a church wide meal and party for all ages. Visit the promotional table tonight at the Ministry Fair and Wednesday Re:treat in the Worship Center at 5:45.

Upcoming Wednesday Night Opportunities:

As part of our wisdom of scripture worship series, we want to provide space for conversation around questions you may have coming from scripture. Is there a story that has always stumped you?  Do you have something you have always wanted to ask? Well, here is your chance. Two of our Wednesday nights together will be devoted to conversation around your questions, February 21 and 28. You may submit your question here by Monday, February 19. We do ask that you keep these questions specific to scripture passages, and reference the passage when you send in your question. Our youth will join us both nights for scripture questions, Bridge may join us or build Beds for Kids February 21 and will have a game night February 28, and kids 4th and under will have an art night February 21 and drama night February 28.

Following our nights of scripture questions, we will have another chance to be in conversation. This time, reflecting on the book Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again by Rachel Held-Evans. Purchase a book, begin reading, and join us Wednesday, March 6 for discussion.  Bridge and youth will build beds for kids and our kids 4th and under will have game night.

Children's Sunday School Sundays in the Garden at 9:30 am. (Ages 3 years old - 4th grade)  We begin with a gathering time in the Garden Room and an introduction to the lesson. Then the children break off into age-leveled groups. This month's theme is "Include." To volunteer click the link.
All volunteers must submit a background check before volunteering with children and youth.
2nd - 4th Graders are invited to join our Bible 101 class meeting now through March 17. Drop off will be in the Garden Room at 9:30 a.m.  Please bring your Bible. If your child does not have a Bible, contact Pastor Haven. This will be an important course as the students learn more about the history and books of the Bible and how to navigate looking up scriptures.

January Communion Offering

In English, the phrase Becas con Bendiciones means “Scholarships with Blessings.”
This month, your Communion gifts will supply scholarships for impoverished Honduran students.Though public school in Honduras is technically "free" to attend, there are uniform requirements, shoes, sports clothing for P.E. classes, matriculation fees, maintenance fees, and basic school supplies which put formal education out of the reach of many children. In January 2006 PHUMC's Wednesday night children's program studied United Methodist missions in Honduras, learning a little Spanish, sampling some Honduran foods, and discovering that kids in Honduras got only four or five years of schooling because their parents couldn't afford to pay for uniforms, school supplies, and fees. So our kids jumped in to help. They began collecting change at home and at church, made announcements to the congregation, decorated collection boxes for Wednesday night supper tables, and quickly raised $300 for "Scholarships with blessings" to help kids in Honduras stay in school longer. Since that beginning in 2006, Parkway Hills has sponsored dozens of Honduran children. We receive thank-you letters and pictures from our sponsored kids every year. They are so grateful for our support!
Last year we provided 17 scholarships!
Your gift of $120 provides 100% of the school-related needs for a child in this program. Learn more by clicking here. Thank you for giving generously.
