| A Word From Our Head of School

Dear LCA Families,
Welcome back! I trust you had a delightful Christmas Break and feel rested as we embark on the New Year. As we approach the end of January, we will reach the halfway point of the school year. Reflecting on the journey so far, it is awe-inspiring to witness the academic growth of our students. The most distinct transformation may be visible in the kindergarten classrooms, now teeming with budding scholars and emerging readers. For parents of the Senior Class, the swift passage of time becomes palpable as they prepare their children for college. Drawing on the wisdom of a grandmother, I encourage you to cherish these moments and hug your kids often because while the days may seem long, the years pass quickly.
In 1947, an 18-year-old college student penned an article for the Morehouse College newspaper, contemplating the purpose of education. "Intelligence plus character – that is the true goal of education," he asserted. This young man would later stand on the steps of our nation's capital, articulating his dream of equality. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. recognized from a tender age that cultivating character is a crucial aspect of the educator's mission.
At LCA, our objective extends beyond fostering academically proficient students; we aim to empower them to embody exceptional character traits - overflowing with kindness, mercy, and love. As we pay tribute to the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., let us remember his conviction and commitment to manifesting the character of Christ - a genuine catalyst for transformative change in our fractured world.
The start of the year presents an excellent opportunity to reaffirm your dedication to cultivating a character more aligned with Christ's. This can only be achieved through the regular reading and study of the Bible, dedicated time in prayer, and active participation in a church community (Hebrews 10:25). At Life Center, we embark on an annual journey of reading the entire Bible. You can access the daily reading plan by clicking here. If you are without a church home, we invite you to consider joining us on Sundays.
We currently have available job opportunities within our organization and are seeking enthusiastic individuals to fill these essential positions. To encourage your involvement in this endeavor, we have established a referral reward program. High School Preview Day
January 10
|
High School Preview Day for current 8th graders will take place on Wednesday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m. On Preview Day, students will meet current LCA 8th graders, enjoy lunch, attend high school demo classes, and learn more about our extracurricular activities. If you know an 8th grade student who is interested in learning more about LCA, please contact our Director of Admissions, Linda Davis.

| Life Christian Foundation Scholarships
Save the Date!
|
Applications for our 2024-25 Life Christian Foundation scholarships will open during the week of January 15. Applications will be accepted through 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2. There are some scholarship available for elementary students, with the majority designated for middle and high school students. We will communicate via email when the applications are available.

| High School Tolo
January 13
|
Life Christian Academy's Winter Tolo will take place on Saturday, January 13 from 6:00-10:00pm at the Family Fun Center in Tukwila. The cost is $22 per person and includes unlimited go karts, bumper boats, bumper cards, mini golf, lazer tag, one "you pick" attraction, and 30 arcade points.

You’re invited to engage with us over the first 21 days of 2024 as we fast and pray together. This is a spiritual discipline the people of Life Center participate in annually to prepare for the new year. Our goal is that this time would be formative for both you personally, and also communally with those who are on this journey with you.
Each day will contain a brief passage of scripture and devotional thought to meditate on before engaging in prayer. The plan we’re going to follow is defined by the prayer points we see in the Lord’s Prayer. To learn more, please click here.

| LC Students DEFY Night

|
LC Students is hosting a middle school DEFY night for children in grades 6-8 on Tuesday, January 16 at 6:00pm. The cost is $15 and includes admission and pizza. We invite you to meet us at DEFY Tacoma for a night of fun and friends!

LC Students Winter Retreat
February 17-19
|
LC Students invites your child (grades 6-12) to join us and Go Deeper with Jesus at this year's winter retreat. Take advantage of your mid-winter break and spend a weekend focused on Jesus. We will have times of worship, teaching, and prayer. There will also be times for students to have fun with others their age who are also seeking to go deeper with Jesus.
