2015 Draft Budgets Available Online

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association and Metropolitan District are planning their budgets for 2015. The 2015 draft budget of the Master Association was presented to the Master Association Board at their Oct. 21 meeting, and the Board is scheduled to approve the budget at their Nov. 18 Board meeting. The Master Association draft budget calls for a $1 per month increase in dues. The 2015 draft budget for the Metropolitan District was discussed at a public hearing on Oct. 28, and the budget will be adopted by the Board on Dec. 9. If you have questions or comments about the budget, please contact Master Association Executive Director Chris Pacetti at chrisp@kcranch.org or Metropolitan District Manager Darrell Windes at darrellw@kcranch.org.

There's Still Time to Gobble Wobble

The inaugural Ken-Caryl Ranch Gobble Wobble 5K & Fun Run is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Nov. 15. The event will take place in the open space trail system and start at Dakota Lodge. Resident registration proceeds go to the open space trails, and non-resident registration proceeds benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies. Participants will be registered for great raffle prizes including 80-minute massages from Elements Massage and a pet care package from Ken-Caryl Pet Spa. Registration is open, and details are available on the Special Events page. You won't want to miss this fun event!

Committee Application Deadline is Friday

Committees are an important part of the administration of the Master Association. Applications are currently being accepted for committee appointments. If you’re interested in helping your community, please apply by Friday, Nov. 7 to serve on one of the Master Association's committees: Architectural, Community Planning, Covenants, Election, Finance, Historical Society or Open Space. Returning committee members (with the exception of the Historical Society) must reapply annually for committee membership. To learn more about committees and to download an application, see the Committees & Task Forces page.

Christmas Tree Sale

The annual Christmas Tree Sale will be held at the Dakota Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 8-10 a.m. A limited number of trees cut from forest management areas will be available to the public, on a first come, first served basis. Rangers are requesting donations in exchange for the trees, and the donations will be used to offset expenses in the open space program. Mainly Douglas Firs and some Ponderosa Pines will be cut two weeks before the sale so they will be very fresh and fragrant for the sale. These trees are not bushy and manicured like those found on Christmas tree lots around town, but the fresh pine scent still invokes the holiday spirit. For the annual tree sale, the Rangers will harvest small diameter trees in the open space to improve wildlife habitat and overall forest health. The removal of the small trees reduces overcrowding and eliminates ladder fuels that can carry fire into a forest canopy. Trees that don’t find a home are chipped and made into mulch.

Calling All Resident Crafters!

Ken-Caryl Ranch is looking for crafters for the annual Holiday Happenings event on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 3-8 p.m. at the Ranch House. The booth fee is $25. A minimum of four and a maximum of eight crafters are needed. Residents with handmade crafts only, please.
To submit a request, please contact KC Leniger at 303-979-4070, ext. 131, or kcl@kcranch.org. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Nov. 25.
