  1. Are you ready for the next step? Do you want some experience under your belt while still in school? Whether you are seeking your dream job or just looking around, check out the GVSU Career and Internship Fair!⁠ The event will take place on February 23rd, at the DeVos Place Convention Center. For additional information, and tips to be prepared, check out the Career Center's website.

  2. Academic knowledge and skills aren't the only things you will learn from your graduate education. You also need to develop your professional skills and network. From the PACES Program, The Graduate School will be hosting the Winter 2023 Professional Development Lunch & Learn Series, provided for free to graduate students. The next session will be about Presentation Skills, on February 24th. Check out the PACES website for more information about this program, as well as the full schedule of the Series!

  3. Sometimes, there will be a challenging moment in your graduate education, and you may wonder whether it is worth it. Here is some news to inspire optimism in you. A survey by the journal Nature has found that 79% of master's students who participated were glad to have pursued their degree, and they also found their graduate experience rewarding.   4. Hey Lakers! Do you want to flex your knowledge, eat some good food, and compete for awesome prizes? Join the For the Culture (FTC) Quiz Bowl! The theme is about Africa, African Americans, and the African Diaspora. Topics include history, language, geography, culture, and more! You can register with a team, or as an individual and be placed onto a team. This event will take place on March 17th, at the Loosemore Auditorium.

  5. Are you looking to dress up your closet while keeping costs down? The JCPenney Suit-Up Event is here for you! On March 19th, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., you can visit the RiverTown Mall location and receive an EXTRA 30% off on top of existing discounts! Just bring your Student ID or a way to scan a QR code.   6. Finally, we would like to recognize a Laker from the Cybersecurity program. Starting with the Winter 2023 semester, Joseph Ohaeche has stepped up to be the new President of the Graduate Student Association (GSA)! He is an international Laker from Lagos, Nigeria. In this position, he wants to continue to help voice the concerns of his fellow graduate students. At his core, Joseph wants to maintain Grand Valley as an inclusive and welcoming campus for all. We are looking forward to his future accomplishments in his program and GSA! Check out the full story here.
