Each school year, NC State’s Awards for Excellence celebrate employees whose contributions go above and beyond their everyday responsibilities. These awards honor individuals whose achievements are so exceptional that they deserve special distinction, whether through their impact on their departments, divisions, the NC State community, the state of North Carolina or the lives of others. As DASA’s winners, Jenna Jeslis (University Housing), Leslie Cochran (Multicultural Student Affairs), Jesse Proctor (University Housing Facilities) and Emmanuel Akogyeram (Wellness and Recreation) received $250 checks, eight hours of annual leave and will be considered for university-level awards, which will be announced in June.

• An electric cart for the Wolfpack Pickup program was among 14 Sustainability Fund grants awarded to campus projects.
• New NC State Chancellor Kevin Howell shared a message with the campus community on his first day.
• NC State LIVE and the Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs present an evening of bluegrass jamming, featuring a performance by esteemed bluegrass musicians and educators Hank & Pattie on May 21, a guided discussion about the common language of music and a jam session open to anyone who would like to bring an instrument and participate.
