Big Thanks to Our Winter Storm Dining Staff
Earlier this week, nearly 100 dining hall staff members opted to forgo time with their families and loved ones to stay overnight in Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon to ensure all meal plan holders still had access to food during the snow storm. Next time you dine on campus, please take a moment to give thanks to the dining hall staff - who makes this all possible.

Each to-go suhoor bundle can be purchased with one meal swipe. Pick-up your suhoor bundle daily (view market hours) to be consumed the following morning before sunrise.
After the sun has set, iftar will be available during dinner at all three on-campus dining halls (Shenkman, Thurston, and Pelham Commons). Each dining hall will have a station dedicated specifically for iftar food offerings.

Sip Happens: Stay Hydrated This Winter!
Did you know that in addition to supporting your nutrition needs on campus, I also promote overall student wellness? One simple way to boost your well‑being this season is to stay hydrated, even when it’s cold out.
Cold weather might make you reach for a cozy blanket instead of a water bottle, but winter dehydration is real, and it can sneak up on busy students fast. Here’s why staying hydrated matters even when it is freezing outside:
|
-
Cold air = dry air, which means you lose water just by breathing.
- Heated dorms and classrooms dry you out even more.
- You feel less thirsty in winter, making it easy to forget to drink water.
- Focus and memory drop when you’re even mildly dehydrated (which is not great for studying).
-
Energy levels dip without enough fluids - which makes long lectures or late‑night study sessions tough to get through.
- Dry skin and chapped lips are often signs you need more fluids.
- Hydration supports your immune system, helping fight off winter colds and flu.
|
Ready to keep the “sip” in Sip Happens? Follow us on social media for more easy hydration hacks, or meet with me directly for individualized support.
