The Spring semester is underway! You may wonder how your student is doing in the classroom. This week, we opened Early Warning, our process to gather feedback about attendance and academic difficulties early in the semester. Early Warning notes are due from faculty and staff on Feb. 3 and will be available on LORA for Parents. This a good time to check-in and make sure your student knows where they stand in their classes.
If you notice an early warning note of concern, talk to your student, then refer to this web page for ways to address an issue. We encourage all students to use our Student Success services, especially one-on-one tutors, success coaching, advising, career development, and workshops.
Student Success workshops are updated on our website or our Instagram account. Workshops cover topics like improving your memory, the importance of sleep, prioritizing assignments, and writing concisely. The Office for Writing and Learning Services (OWLS) also offers 200 hours of peer tutoring a week in subjects across the university. Even students in great academic standing benefit from working with us. We hope that you will recommend these services to your student.
Now is also a good time to make sure that Loyola has updated emergency contact information for your student. Please encourage them to check this information in LORA and make any updates necessary.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Rainey
