WELCOME TO IN BRIEF
Greetings,
We’re pleased to bring you the first issue of In Brief, our new quarterly e-newsletter for and about St. John’s Law alumni.
We’re coming to your inbox with the latest news and stories from alma mater. You’ll learn about the impact made by friends, classmates, and colleagues who give back generously to the Law School in so many ways. And we’ll share a sampling of the professional activities and proud achievements that alumni spotlight in Class Notes.
Even in these virtual times, we have a great slate of alumni programs and events that you’ll learn about in the newsletter, so you can mark your calendars and attend. You’ll also read about the important work of our Law School Alumni Association and its worldwide chapters.
This is a space to build camaraderie and connection. As always, we welcome your content ideas for future issues of the newsletter. But, for now, thanks for your ongoing dedication and support, and please enjoy the launch of:
In Brief
Best,
Brian J. Woods
Associate Dean for Law School Advancement

| The Boyd Law Group Gives Back Giving back is a priority for Patrick J. Boyd '00, founding partner at The Boyd Law Group (BLG), a labor and employment law firm in NY, CT, and TX. In the first two months of 2021, BLG contributed a portion of its revenue to the David Gregory Labor and Employment Law Scholarship, which was established by family, friends, alumni, and colleagues to honor the late Professor David L. Gregory. As the Law School’s Dorothy Day Professor of Law from 1982 to 2017, Professor Gregory founded the Center for Labor and Employment Law with a focus on the importance, and the sanctity, of doing good work in the world. The scholarship in his name benefits St. John’s Law students who want to practice in the field of labor and employment law.

A 2017 Belson Medal recipient who continues to serve his community in various roles, Golinski previously established the Paul A. Golinski Polish and Slavic Heritage Scholarship Fund benefiting St. John's Law students of Polish or Slavic descent.

Keeping up with the Alexanders When Professor Vincent C. Alexander '75 and his wife, Anne (Nancy) Dillon Alexander '76C, '80L, retired in 2017, they looked forward to travels that would take them through Canada, cruising on the Chesapeake, and to a Mayflower landing celebration in Plymouth, MA. But the pandemic had other plans, and the two are now happy and well at home in New York, where Professor Alexander is busy writing in the areas of New York practice and Evidence, updating his McKinney’s CPLR Commentaries, and tracing his family's history of military service in the Revolutionary War. While they keep a social distance, the couple also enjoys virtual visits with their five young grandchildren and rooting for the resurgent Red Storm basketball team, though they can't wait to be back in the stands cheering Go Johnnies!
