Wearable Bioelectronics for Continuous Health Monitoring & Human-Robot Interaction |
Yayun Du
Wednesday, Sept 17, 2025 12-1 pm | 1400 18th Ave S A2009
Dr. Yayun Du will discuss her lab’s recent advances in multimodal wearable (and implantable) bioelectronics. Her group develops sensors that monitor brain, heart, and body signals in real time, including EEG, ECG, SCG, PCG, and biochemical sensing platforms, and integrates them with explainable/edge AI for clinical and human performance applications.

These systems have been deployed across diverse settings, from neonatal intensive care units to firefighter stress monitoring, and have already reached nearly 1,000 patients across five countries, with the broader goal of enabling proactive, personalized health care and safe, adaptive human–robot interaction. Dr. Du is Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering, and PI of the SYMBIO-X Lab at Vanderbilt University.
Join us on Wednesday to learn more. Pizza and drinks provided.

LIVE Faculty featured in Vanderbilt Research News |
Responsible AI Stewardship |
The Peabody Hub for Mindful AI Innovation, launched in early May by LIVE faculty members Golnaz Arastoopour Irgens and Alyssa Wise, was featured in Vanderbilt's Research News. Powered by community contributions, the interactive gallery of student-made AI applications and projects allows visitors to experiment with innovative tools while exploring creators’ narratives about development, societal impacts, and ethical implications. As highlighted in the article, the hub makes AI exploration more accessible and ethically grounded, fostering an inclusive conversation about the future of AI within and beyond Vanderbilt.

Interested in Shaping the Future of the LIVE Student Community? |
LIVE is looking for students who want to imagine and launch initiatives that meet student needs and shape LIVE student culture.
The LIVE Student Leadership Team brings together students from all levels and programs working at the intersection of learning and technology to organize activities that reflect student interests. They also represent the student community to the LIVE Board. Last year, the team launched the Half-Baked Forum, a student-led event to share work-in-progress, spark interdisciplinary conversations, and build collaborations to advance research and development efforts. Centered around the theme fully baked goods and half-baked ideas, the forum offered a relaxed setting for students to present anything from polished projects to fledgling research concepts in a formal or informal style. Join the LIVE Student Leadership Team to shape what comes next!
The Student Leadership Team has a one-year commitment. Prior team members are encouraged to reapply. Deadline to submit is September 30, 2025.
