Have you ever noticed the option for Shared Drives in your Google Drive account and wondered how they are different from a Shared Folder? The answer has to do with ownership. An individual owns a Shared Folder and if that person leaves the University, the files in the folder will as well, unless they proactively transfer the files. With Shared Drives, an individual creates it and grants access to others as needed, but the University owns it and it doesn’t go anywhere if anyone leaves GW.
