The Associated Churches' WHNH-LP (101.3fm, New Haven) goes temporarily silent over several concerns raised by the licensee.
We pointed our readers to an article by Kevin Leininger at the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel with more details.
Mr. Leininger reports that WHNH recently returned to the air with a few changes. First, the licensee will establish a community advisory panel and the City of New Haven will program at least 12 hours per week, as they have the WHNH antenna on their communications tower.
Federated Media promotes Scott Howard from the WOWO sales team to GSM. Scott joined WOWO in 2003 and worked on-air for sister WMEE in the 1980s. Also, Kassie Taskey returns to Federated Media and becomes Local Sales Manager for both Classic Hits/WFWI (92.3fm, Fort Wayne) and Sports/WKJG (1380am, Fort Wayne) and translator W265CY (100.9fm, Fort Wayne). Recently, Ms. Taskey added GSM responsibilities for Rock/WBYR (98.9fm, Woodburn). Before returning to Federated, Ms. Taskey was the Learfield/Purdue Fort Wayne GM for 8 years.
Quincy Broadcasting has several changes at both their ABC and NBC affiliates in Fort Wayne. WPTA-TV (Channel 21, Fort Wayne) has the ABC affiliation on their .1 channel and the NBC affiliation on their .2 subchannel.
Last night, Krista Miller made her on air debut anchoring with her husband Brien McElhatten on ABC21.
Next, Samantha Myers joins ABC21 as co-anchor of ABC21 Morning News. Ms. Myers graduated from University of Missouri and last worked in Indianapolis. There, she was a morning reporter for both CBS affiliate/WTTV-TV (Channel 4) and FOX affiliate/WXIN-TV (Channel 59)/WTTK-TV (Channel 29).
Louie Tran earns a promotion to weekend anchor and reporter for Fort Wayne's NBC. Previously, Mr. Tran reported for both Fort Wayne's NBC and ABC21.
Fort Wayne's NBC weekday morning meteorologist Yasser Kishk exits. Succeeding Mr. Kishk is sister ABC21 weekend meteorologist Nikki Pietrus. Ms. Pietrus joined Julian Teekaram and Jack Keenan for 'Fort Wayne's NBC Today' from 5am until 7am.
Mr. Kishk joined the weather team at WHBQ-TV (FOX) in Memphis, Tennessee.
Where Are They Now? Former Federated Media/Fort Wayne GM now works in the same role for Leighton Broadcasting at their Winona, Minnesota radio stations.
Northcentral
Weigel Broadcasting’s ABC affiliate/WBND (Channel 57, South Bend) adds meteorologist Maci Tetrick and reporter Tony Sandelben. Ms. Tetrick graduated from Purdue University and interned at WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis). Before joining ABC57, Mr. Sandelben worked for a year at Nexstar's CBS affiliate/WANE-TV (Channel 15, Fort Wayne).
Where Are They Now? Former South Bend radio broadcaster (92.9 WNDV, 95.7 WLRX, 102.3 WWLV) Patti Banner joins KTCO in Duluth, Minnesota to co-host mornings.
Northwest
Spoon River Media's Classic Rock/WLOI (1540am, La Porte) and W293DR (106.5fm, La Porte) welcomes Rik Anthony to afternoons. Mr. Anthony continues a 40+ year broadcasting career, which started with the U.S. Air Force and AFTRS (Armed Forces TV and Radio Service).
The Shine.FM network has two Indiana affiliates: WTMK (88.5fm, Wanatah) and WHZN (88.3fm, New Whiteland), near Indianapolis. The network has a new OM: Steven Alvarado, who last worked with Indiana Wesleyan University. His first day with Shine.FM was yesterday.
Where Are They Now? Former WYIN-TV News Director Jerry Howard now works for Heartland Media, as News Director at KDRV-TV in Medford, Oregon.
Eastcentral
The Voice of the Cardinals, Morry Mannies, died March 5.
In the 1950s, as a teenager, he began his broadcast career on the air at WARU (1600am) in Peru. He later joined WLBC radio (for 59 years) and served as Ball State University PBP man. He retired from Ball State PBP at the end of the 2011-2012 school year and was widely known as The Voice of the Cardinals.
He also did PBP for Delaware County Schools, calling at least 6 state championship games. Beyond broadcasting, Mr. Mannies taught at Muncie Central (speech and English) and at Ball State (director of Speech Education and Assistant Professor of Speech).
From 1986 through 2011, Jim Davis (of Garfield fame), Dave Smith, Al Rent, and Morry became co-owners of WLBC.

Central
CJ Hoyt will be the next News Director for CBS affiliate WTTV-TV (Channel 4, Bloomington) and FOX affiliate/WXIN-TV (Channel 59, Indianapolis)/WTTK-TV (Channel 29, Kokomo). Mr. Hoyt last worked in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as News Director for sister WHTM-TV, and once served as News Director in Evansville for NBC affiliate WFIE (Channel 14).
Jeannette Rhodes joins the University of Indianapolis, as the Director of Engineering for their WICR (88.7fm, Indianapolis). Ms. Rhodes is a veteran engineer, having worked for multiple Indianapolis broadcasters.
Where Are They Now? Former WXIN-TV content manager Kristen Hamilton moves from news director at KHQA-TV in Hannibal, Missouri to the same role at CBS affiliate KGAN-TV and FOX affiliate KFXA-TV, both in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
