Arnell Presents Design Process Research |
Nicole Arnell, professor of graphic design, presented research at VisComm40, the annual visual communication conference. Accepted through a juried review process, her presentation examined how studio-based graphic design education prepares students to work alongside AI in design practice by developing judgment that technology cannot replace. Her research emphasizes iterative critique and experimentation, developing the ability to evaluate design quality, and using AI responsibly and ethically.

| Hester Promotes Safety in MR Environment |
An article by Tyler Hester, radiography/MRI clinical coordinator, has been published in Radiologic Technology, the journal of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Hester discussed issues related to patients who have cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) with remote platforms during magnetic resonance imaging procedures. He emphasized the importance for personnel to use thorough and refined safety precautions to keep the MRI environment safe.

Peers recognize Hannah’s Public Service |
Congratulations to Dr. Russ Hannah, vice chancellor for finance and administration and chief financial officer, for being chosen by his peers to receive the 2026 GFOA Recognition for Outstanding Public Service. Given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the award recognizes outstanding members for their dedication to the profession, their colleagues, and their communities. | Sokolov is Co-Author of Analytics Research |
A research paper co-authored by Dr. Alexandr Sokolov, assistant professor of engineering and director of engineering management and construction management programs, and completed with master’s degree program student Suwetha Muthukumar and colleagues at two other institutions, has been published. The preprint of the article in the journal Supply Chain Analytics, “A Network and Bibliometric Analysis of Supply Chain and Logistics Disruption Dynamics,” is online.

Brown Discusses Academic Freedom |
Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology, made a presentation at the annual conference on law culture and humanities conducted by DePaul University Law School. With a title of “The Uprooted University: Law, Origins, and Possibilities,” Brown focused on how campus policies have changed throughout time, from medieval universities to more modern day, and how academic freedom has changed throughout the eras.
