November 11, 2020
Dear Parents,
It seems like a strange coincidence that in the week after an election, we pause for what I grew up knowing as Armistice Day. Today (Veterans Day) is important in our calendar for honoring military veterans, that is, people who have honorably served in the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other countries marking the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day in May. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who had died while in military service.
Tomorrow morning, your children will have the opportunity as they arrive at school, to show respect and gratitude to members of our community who have served our country. We ask that you prepare them to show respect and gratitude – there was a cost to the freedoms we enjoy, and we should be grateful for this.

Honoring Veterans
LCA would like to take a moment to recognize and honor all those who have served to protect our freedoms and this great nation. Thank you for your service.
Tomorrow, November 12, we will host a school wide "Day of Honor" beginning first thing in the morning with the Honor Line and continuing with our Veterans Day Chapel rotation and Virtual Chapel experience. During drop off tomorrow morning, show your appreciation with a honk and wave to our Veterans in the Honor Line and be sure to ask your student about the chapel experiences of the day.
