RVRMA Board Election Results |
|
|
As announced in a special mailing last week, we had three excellent candidates competing for two available seats on the RVRMA Board of Directors.
The results were very close:
Michael Banbury - 119
RJ Spurrier - 98
Sam Hartnett – 96
Michael and RJ have been elected to three-year terms and will be seated at the July board meeting. Also at July’s meeting, the Board will appoint officers for the coming year. We want to thank Sam Hartnett for his participation in the election process. We look forward to his involvement in future community governance.

Lap Lane Booking Reminder | No Double Booking |
|
|
As of lately we have noticed a lot of people double booking the lap lane for themselves or making a reservation and not showing up. This is a gentle reminder to please follow the lap lane rules:
|
-
Lap lane reservations are strongly recommended. Click here to reserve a lane or call the front desk at 970-963-6300.
- Swim lanes are considered shared lanes. We ask that homeowners book one swim lane at a time.
-
Be aware of your reserved lap lane number and reservation time and if you are unable to make your reserved time please be sure to cancel asap so another homeowner can use the lane.
|
If you need to make multiple reservations at the same time i.e. for you and your spouse or child, please get them to sign in and make it for themselves or you can call the front desk to make it for you; this allows us to keep track of how many people are using the pool.
Thanks for your cooperation. Happy Swimming!

Green Tip | Colorado Quality Waters |
|
|
If you're a fan of fishing, then you know about Gold Medal Waters, the top tier streams and lakes that set the bar for opportunities to catch quality trout. There are 11 streams designated as Gold Medal, and we are lucky enough to have 2 of them in our backyard: the Frying Pan River and the section of the Roaring Fork River from Basalt to Glenwood Springs. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) just announced a new category of fishable waters called Colorado Quality Waters. These waters are below the threshold to be considered Gold Medal, but they are recognized because of their fantastic and diverse fisheries (not just for trout). The list currently consists of 53 lakes and streams that contain productive, quality fisheries with public access, providing a top-notch experience for anglers. In our neck of the woods, three new Quality Water additions are a section of the Roaring Fork River from Maroon Creek to Basalt, a long section of the Colorado River up and downstream from Glenwood Springs, and Rifle Gap Reservoir. Check out these newly designated areas on the CPW map.

SoL Theatre Company | Spring Awakening |
Featuring RVR resident and actress, Kassidy Birdsong, Ranch House Employee, Lucas Ryan (Director & Choreographer) and many young and talented RVR Residents!
|
|
|
SoL Theatre Company presents its first professional company of actors in the groundbreaking Broadway musical "Spring Awakening."
This summer, SoL has initiated its inaugural summer stock program to ensure the company continues on its promise to train highly skilled and professional actors at every stage of life. The cast includes local professionals, longtime SoL students now turned pre-professionals, and New York musical theatre students from CAP21 Conservatory.
"Spring Awakening" is a rousing rock musical based on the 1891 German play by Frank Wedekind. It’s a cautionary tale of what happens when adults do not give children the respect and information they need. Known for its intoxicating rock score and critically acclaimed book that touches on teen suicide, sexuality, and the dangers of censorship, "Spring Awakening" has been performed all over the world, but for the first time on the western slope this summer on the SoL Theatre Company main stage.

The vote on the proposed special assessment has concluded and the majority of the community has voted in favor of the initiative.
Vote results:
|
- Total number of lots/units who cast a vote: 383 (69% of all voters)
- Number of "Yes" votes: 251 (66% of those who cast a vote)
- Number of "No" votes: 132 (34% of those who cast a vote)
- Number of lots/units who did not cast a vote: 169
|
| |
|
In order to pass, we needed a simple majority of “Yes” votes, with at least 60% of all properties participating (to meet a quorum). We have exceeded the quorum threshold with 69% of all properties participating in the vote. 66% of voters authorized the special assessment, representing a majority. As a result, the special assessment is hereby authorized.
The approved special assessment amount is $5,500 per lot or unit. Please note that the collection of this assessment is being carried out through a separate invoice, which has been sent to your email on record with the HOA. The invoice will come to you directly from RVR's QuickBooks account. The invoice has information regarding payment details inclusive of auto-pay options. You have the option to make either a partial payment (1/2 of the assessment) or a full payment on or before October 1, 2024. If you are splitting up the payment, the second half of the amount owed is due on or before August 1, 2025. However, we want to emphasize that you are free to make the payment at any time that is convenient for you before the due date.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the special assessment or the payment process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist you and provide any necessary clarifications.

In 2000, I moved from Aspen, Colorado to the tiny town of Waverly, Alabama — population 145 at that time (it’s now 174!). Waverly is not the town in Alabama I grew up in, but we do have long roots there. Not only were our great-grandparents on our father’s side born there, but my brothers and I are direct descendants of a man buried there (B.B. Patrick) who was born 4 years after George Washington died. The main street through town is Patrick Street (my younger brother’s name), which intersects with Dawson Street (my older brother’s name). As they say in Alabama, “We go way back.”
I had the chance to rent a 150-year old log cabin from a cousin I didn’t even know I had, so I jumped at the chance to do a deep dive in rural Alabama with my documentary photography work. I had no idea what stories would come forward or the dear people I would meet and connect with, but I will always cherish the wonder-filled life I lived for years in Waverly, Alabama.
This image, which I call ‘Rife with Life’, is the backdoor to the home of an amazing botanist and farmer, Mace G. As the people in Waverly were getting to know me and seeing my photography work, they kept telling me I needed to go see Mace’s garden. So I called him one day and asked if I could come photograph him in his garden. He was delighted, and told me to just pull around back. As the two of us were meandering through his amazing tomato plants, he was telling me all about his growing process, which was deeply scientific. At one point that afternoon, I turned around, and the lighting was just perfect on his house. I quickly snapped a shot, then brought my attention back to Mace and his tomatoes.
The afternoon was full of wonder and love of the earth and tomatoes, and absolutely, was ‘Rife with Life’.
