COMMENCEMENT RECEPTION – FOOD ASSIGNMENTS

The Academy's 37th Commencement will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 9. All students are expected to attend, and all parents are encouraged and invited to attend as well.

It's a tradition that we celebrate our seniors with a potluck reception after the commencement ceremony.

Families in the following grades should plan to contribute the following items – all finger foods please!

Grades 7 & 8: cookies, brownies, or finger desserts

Grades 9, 10, & 11: cheese & crackers OR veggies & dip

We expect over 400 people to join us and look forward to seeing all of you and our graduates' guests there.

WORK BEE THANKS

A hearty thank you to all of the parents and students (current and future!) who worked hard on a hot Saturday to clean and paint and garden and build and make the campus pretty in advance of graduation. It was a wonderful day of coming together to use many hands to make light work, and we are grateful to the APC for organizing this effort.

Appreciation Luncheon - Tuesday, June 12

The Academy Parents Council will host a luncheon to honor the faculty and staff of the Academy for their dedication to our children throughout the year. Providing part of the meal is a terrific way to show your appreciation for their efforts.

You can volunteer now and find more details about the luncheon here at the sign up site. We are still in need of main dishes, salads, and desserts. We are also happy to have additional help for set up and/or clean up. (We are all set on beverages.) Please keep in mind, this is an elegant luncheon for approximately 25 people. If you are unable to bring your food to the Academy on June 12, please contact one of us as soon as possible, so that we can coordinate a pickup.

Thank you for your generosity, we are looking forward to celebrating our Academy staff on the 12th with a wonderful event. Please feel free to contact Meg Clark P21 or Jodi Howe P21 with any questions.

SPRING CONCERT RECORDING - ORDERING OPEN

Once again families can purchase a professionally recorded and produced DVD or download of our Spring Concert from Reelife Productions and Folktography.  Enjoy the performance again and again, without having to do so through your own recording device.

ANNUAL FUND: Parent Giving Now at 74%

Thanks to everyone who has participated to date in this year's Annual Fund. With parent support at a record 74% so far, we're still aiming to have all families contribute, as have 100% of faculty and staff members. Click HERE to make a secure online donation, or contact us with questions.

ENABLING THE FUTURE

Earlier this year, Junior Liam N brought to our attention an organization called Enabling the Future, dedicated to pairing 3D printers with people in need of a prosthesis. Pictured here is the first successful output of a prosthesis called Raptor Reloaded printed here at school. Hardware needed to make the hand fully functional is on its way. Please consider supporting the Community Service Council's efforts to help this organization by making a donation (note the purpose in the space provided), and thanks!

Classroom Close-ups

Environmental Science class has been working in the school garden periodically this year. We had our final day of planting and weeding in the hot sun. We planted carrots, beets, fennel, tomatoes, potatoes, broccoli, butternut squash, cucumbers, and other late season crops for the school to harvest in the fall.
