  1. The Writing Center is hosting a Thesis Boost on February 24! Thesis Boost is an intensive writing boot camp that offers dedicated time for you to make significant progress on your thesis, project, or dissertation. This two-day program provides individual project time, peer consultant support, writing workshops, and opportunities to build community with fellow graduate writers. Snacks, coffee, and boxed lunches are provided. Registration has been extended until February 15! The registration fee will be refunded with attendance.

  2. The University Counseling Center is offering free and completely confidential mental health screenings to all GVSU students, faculty, and staff on February 22 and March 28. Stop by for a screening before or after the Career Fair! Check out the schedule to see what time and location works best for you! Also, volunteers are needed, sign up here.

  3. The GVSU Career and Internship Fair is around the corner. There will be 230 employers in attendance on February 22 at DeVos Place Convention Center. RSVP today! It's free! On February 14, the Career Center will host a drop-in event to help you refine your resume, formulate your elevator pitch, and learn how to follow up after the fair to build meaningful employer connections. Register for the prep session here.

  4. Midterms are on the way. Stay organized to reduce stress and testing anxiety. Getting enough sleep is very beneficial to your success. College students should sleep around 6-8 hours a night. Check out the Student Academic Success Center website for more information on how to be successful during midterms! Following the stressful midterms week, RSVP for the Graduate Student Association's winter dinner on February 23.  

  5. Upcoming PACES events focus on networking and branding. On March 15th, learn how to start your own business with presenters from the Michigan Small Business Development Center. You won’t want to miss it!  Next, on March 19th, in person, come learn the importance of LinkedIn and how to use it. Check out the PACES website for more information and registration.

  6. The 2024 Michigan Presidential Primary Elections are quickly approaching. Register to vote here. February 27th is election day. Students in Allendale can early vote utilizing the Allendale Township Satellite Clerk’s Office in Kirkhof Center Lobby from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. from February 21st-23rd. Kent County residents can find early voting locations here.
