Over the summer, MSME student Yasemin Simsek traveled to Kenya to conduct research for her Quantitative Methods course practicum. She partnered with the Neema Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women experiencing poverty, gender-based violence, or teen pregnancy in Kitale, Kenya through services such as skills training, counseling, and faith-based support. Reflecting on her experiences in Kenya, Yasemin urges her program colleagues to ask culturally appropriate questions in their surveys; engage project collaborators throughout the research process; and participate in intentional reflexive exercises throughout their work.

Partnership with the Mongolian Evaluation Association |
The Measurement & Evaluation Program has partnered with the Mongolian Evaluation Association (MEA) to foster cooperation that supports both parties. As part of the agreement, MEA representatives provide AU students and alumni evaluation and research opportunities; and in turn, AU alumni lead webinars for MEA representatives. This year, MSME student Maggie Emge volunteered with an organization in Mongolia to do research on the mining sector for her Qualitative Methods course practicum. In commemoration of Youth in Evaluation week, AU alumni Susan Cottrell, Dennis Hood, Nada Mousa, Tiffany Smith, and Seth Tucker led EvalYouth Mongolia webinars on several topics in evaluation.
