Congratulations to NAM’s Immediate Past-President, M. Kevin Smith, MD, on his election as TMA President-Elect!
| |
With record voter turnout during February 2019, Dr. Smith has been elected to serve as the 2020-2021 president of the Tennessee Medical Association. He is passionate about preserving the model of team-based care in Tennessee, and wants to be a voice for all physicians to unite all specialties.
If you have a question or issue you would like to bring to Dr. Smith, please email him at KevinSmith@nashvillemedicine.org. Also, make plans to join us Thursday, April 25 at our inaugural Spring Social! Dr. Smith will be there also, so you can share your ideas or congratulate him in person!

Day on the Hill: Tuesday, March 26
Join NAM and TMA for our annual lobby day in Nashville, when we connect physicians directly with lawmakers so they can advocate for their patients and discuss significant issues affecting the medical profession in Tennessee. We are planning most individual legislative appointments after noon, so Nashville doctors can only miss half a day of clinic and still participate.
Register to join us March 26.

Burnout is an epidemic in medicine, and many sources of burnout exist in the healthcare system. For 30 years, the Center for Professional Health at Vanderbilt has developed and implemented training programs for individuals and leaders to address sources of burnout in the workplace. The $2,500 course fee includes all course materials, individual assessments, pre-course reception, all meals, CME credits and parking. Space is limited and participants will be accepted on a first-come basis. Detailed information will follow for those registered to participate. Registration opened Feb. 25 with early-bird eligibility available through March 11 ($200 fee reduction). More information about the Center for Professional Health and our programming is available at ww2.mc.vanderbilt.edu/cph.
