New GMU librarian in Health Sciences! |
Elaine R. Hicks is the new Health Science Librarian at George Mason. Elaine's support falls under the rubric of helping patrons find, retrieve, analyze, and (ethically) use information in the context of evidence-based research. She is passionate about teaching how to effectively conduct literature searches using established standards of practice. She is a health educator and former director of community and school health at the Cook County Department of Public Health (metropolitan Chicago). She came to George Mason by way of the Rudolph Matas Library of the Health Sciences at Tulane University, where she was the public health librarian. Her biggest claim to fame was establishing the Librarian Reserve Corps, an information response to COVID-19 and she can also be help people prepare holiday turkeys because she worked for many years on the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line. Talk with her about cooking!
Have you seen? The library has created resource pages for CPH faculty and students such as this one. Here is an example of a featured dataset resource.
