William Lighthart ’21 took President Timothy Snyder’s invitation to embrace a global imagination to the next level by having not one, but three international experiences while a student at LMU. Upon graduating the pursuit of a global education did not cease, as Lighthart is now pursuing a Master of Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Sciences Po PSIA in Paris, France. Read more.

**New Award** Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Ghana- Campus Deadline: August 31! Deadline extensions may be available. Contact ONIF for more info. ETAs spend approximately 20 hours per week in the classroom assisting and supporting English teachers, and 20 hours working on additional projects. ETA roles may include giving presentations on topics related to the United States, preparing classroom activities, modelling interactive activities with partner teachers, and/or encouraging students to communicate in English. ETAs may assist in a variety of academic formats such as one-on-one tutoring or co-teaching large groups. ETAs are also encouraged to create their own projects with institutions or communities. Sample projects include: literacy celebration weeks, English clubs, women's groups, journalism clubs, book clubs, cultural days, debate clubs, etc.

**New Award** Foreign Agricultural Service Diversity Fellowship Program- Deadline: October 6. FDFP is a new U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program that identifies and prepares individuals interested in careers in USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service. Those who successfully complete the program enter into the FAS Foreign Service, a uniquely rewarding career of international service. It is open to students and alumni of all universities and with any major. Fellows receive up to $42,000 annually for a two-year graduate program at a U.S. university toward tuition, room, board, books, and mandatory fees for completion of their Agribusiness or Agricultural Economic degrees.

American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) Undergraduate Fellowship Program- Deadline: October 6. The program increases Latina/o/x undergraduate students’ knowledge and understanding of post-baccalaureate options and career readiness through workshops and professionalization. Towards this end, program sub-goals include to: Provide strategies to assist fellows in achieving their academic and professional goals, Expose undergraduate student fellows to the importance of research, and. Build a community and network of Latina/o/x mentors and scholars.

TE Connectivity African Heritage Scholarship Program- Deadline: October 7. A 2-year scholarship program to assist college sophomores majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Operations Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or Information Technology. The program provides a college scholarship of up to $22,500 per year paired with career development, including a required PAID internship with TE Connectivity for two summers after the sophomore year of college. Open to current sophomores, U.S. citizens, or permanent residents, self-identify as Black or African American or multiracial, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's German Chancellor Fellowship- Deadline: October 15. A fully-funded for young leaders to spend a year in Germany working on a project of their choice. During their stay in Germany, the German Chancellor Fellows usually pursue research-based, self-developed projects in areas such as politics, public administration and business as well as society and culture. Fellows receive travel and a living stipend during their stay in Germany.

2023 VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship- Deadline: October 15. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Student Veterans of America (SVA) are now accepting applications from student veterans interested in participating in the upcoming 2023 VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship program. Now in its ninth year, the fellowship will bring select student veterans – who must be VFW members – to Washington early next March to meet face to face with their members of Congress and senior policymakers. Selected fellows will attend and participate in the SVA National Conference in Orlando, Florida, Jan. 5-7, 2023. They will then be flown to Washington, D.C., to ensure the veterans’ message is delivered to Capitol Hill alongside 500 fellow advocates as part of the upcoming VFW Legislative Conference, March 5-9, 2023.

Center Theatre Group Fall 2022 Props Apprenticeship- Deadline: August 31! This cycle, the Prop Apprentice will be supporting the production of 2:22 A Ghost Story by Danny Robins at the Ahmanson Theatre. Eligible applicants (see Eligibility and Diversity Requirement) should have strong availability between September 12–October 29, 2022, with the capacity to commit 110 hours in 6-hour days during that timeframe. We will be able to work around a class or unavailability on certain days. Apprentices earn a stipend of $1,650. This Apprenticeship builds skills in prop making and management. Props is a job with a wide and varied toolkit, comprised of both hands-on and computer-based components, utilizing both construction knowledge, organizational skills, and creativity. Apprentice will work with the Prop staff throughout the process of Block Party, creating props from start to finish, creating a prop list, pulling the props, attending to rehearsal needs, dressing the set, and facilitating notes in technical rehearsals.

The National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program- Deadline: September 23. Awards of up to $2,000 are available. Open to any student enrolled full time in the following accredited graduate programs: Dental, Medical (allopathic or osteopathic), Pharmacy, Nursing (accepting BSN), Public Health or Health Policy. Eligible students must be enrolled full time for the 2022-2023 academic year. Applicants are not required to be Hispanic; an affinity for the health of Hispanic communities and an interest in participating in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities is required.

Our interns get hands-on experience at departments across the company, study and learn alongside professionals, and participate in career development programs. All internships are part of a company-wide structured learning experience that includes mandatory weekly professional development sessions on Friday afternoons on topics such as resume and cover letter writing, careers in Los Angeles theatre, and anti-racism in theatre. National Transfer Student Ambassadors
The Transfer Student Ambassador Program invites up to four outstanding transfer students to influence the national transfer conversation by sharing their voices at the NISTS annual conference and facilitating a transfer-related program at their home institutions. students selected to participate in this program will share their stories and insights with transfer professionals at the NISTS annual conference, through our website, and social media channels. In addition, Ambassadors will begin or continue working with staff or faculty at their home campus to advance transfer-affirming programs and advocacy efforts. Specific benefits include:
- A $500 scholarship in recognition of your personal and academic achievements
- Complimentary registration and lodging for the NISTS annual conference, plus up to $500 in travel expense reimbursement
- Recognition on the NISTS website and at both the in-person and virtual NISTS conference events
- Valuable, resume-building experience for career and/or graduate school
- Opportunity to publish a brief article on the NISTS website
- Extended involvement opportunities with NISTS, if desired
