The heartbeat of any great department lies in its people and how they feel showing up each day. That is why the Office of Climate and Culture exists: to foster a sense of belonging, connection, and shared purpose across every corner of our community.
This work is about more than policies or programs. It is about cultivating an environment where faculty, staff, and trainees alike feel seen, valued, and supported. We envision this office as a bridge, bringing people together, sparking meaningful dialogue, and nurturing the kind of culture that uplifts everyone.
What makes our department so special is that it holds many communities within itself. Whether it is casual conversation groups, those who bond over pickleball, or others who share common interests, these pockets of connection are a reflection of who we are. We are beginning to recognize and celebrate these informal communities because they remind us that belonging often starts in small, meaningful ways. If you are part of a group or community that brings people together, we would love to know about it. These groups are meant to be open, inclusive, and welcoming to all—because our goal is to create spaces where everyone feels they belong.
In the coming months, we will be sharing new updates, opportunities to connect, and moments that bring us together not just as colleagues but as a community. From morale boosting events to collaborative initiatives, we are excited to build something lasting with heart at the center of it all.
Want to be part of shaping this journey? Have thoughts or ideas to share? The Office of Climate and Culture is here and would love to hear from you. Creating a strong culture is not just our work. It belongs to all of us, together.
