Clerk's Office Lowers Collection Agency Surcharge
Our customers are our number one priority and I am pleased to announce that those who find themselves behind in payments will now have lower collection agency surcharges.
Beginning January 1, 2016, we required the collection agencies we work with to reduce their surcharge from 40 percent to 25 percent.
The new rate applies to all new cases sent to the agencies as well as cases already with a collection agency in which a payment was not made before January 1.
By reducing the collection agency surcharge, my hope is that my office can continue to effectively collect fines and fees without undue burden on our customers.
Monday's Holiday is a Time to Pay Tribute to Dr. King
On Monday we remember and celebrate a man who had a great dream of justice, freedom and peace. A man who envisioned America as a country free of discrimination.
I am honored that several deputy clerks will be joining me on Saturday to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in the Orlando and Eatonville MLK Parades.
On Monday, we continue the celebration at the Arthur Pappy Kennedy Prayer Breakfast and by joining the Ocoee and Apopka MLK Parades.
However you plan to spend the day, I hope you will find a way to commemorate the life of Dr. King. As a reminder, the courthouse and the Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, January 18, in observance of the holiday.
Two Restoration of Rights Workshops Planned in January
Keeping with the theme of rights for all, the Clerk’s Office is planning on participating in the first two Restoration of Rights Workshops of 2016. These workshops provide members of the community who have criminal records the opportunity to begin the process of restoring some of their civil rights.
The first workshop is hosted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Kappa Epsilon Zeta. It will take place on January 14, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Evans High School on Silver Star Rd.
The second workshop will be hosted by Senator Gary Siplin’s office. It will be on January 30, 2016, from 9-12 p.m. at the Hal Marston Center, 3933 Wd Judge Dr.
Staff from our office will be at both events assisting customers with certified copies of court records necessary in the sealing and expungement process.
Time is Running Out: Register for the Clerk's Valentine's Day Group Wedding
Help spread the word. Time is running out to register for our Valentine’s Day Group Wedding Ceremony.
Couples interested in participating must register by January 29th at myorangeclerk.com. I’m looking forward to conducting the ceremony that will take place at 10:30 a.m. on the sandy beach of Paradise Cove.
Flowers, a sparkling cider toast and chocolate covered strawberries will be provided by sponsors to all couples “tying the knot” with me on that very special day.

January Star Performer
I would like to congratulate Traffic Division deputy clerk Laurie Kiner for being selected as our Star Performer for the month of January.
Laurie was nominated by a fellow teammate for her organizational knowledge, positive attitude and attention to detail.
“She is a wonderful team player and her assistance with ongoing training is invaluable,” said Laurie’s teammate. “She excels in customer advocacy and involvement. She listens to customers and keeps our front counter processes accurate and up to date.”
