Happy New Year CRMC Friends,
We have a lot of things planned for Spring 2026. We hope you will get involved.

The CRMC is excited to host the 2026 Math Masters Tournament, an academic competition designed to challenge middle school students through problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking. The tournament will take place on Saturday, March 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST) at Frank Brown Hall. Math Masters provides students with an engaging opportunity to apply their math skills in a fun and supportive environment. Schools interested in participating should complete the team registration form, and individuals interested in helping with the event are encouraged to complete the volunteer form. We appreciate the continued support from our schools and volunteers who help make this event a success.

We’re excited to add a new activity to the Math Masters Tournament that your students can engage in from their own classrooms! Starting January 26th, we will post a new weekly math problem on our YouTube channel and invite schools to submit their solutions, which will count toward room placement at the tournament. This is a great way for students to practice problem-solving, build teamwork, and get a head start on the competition while staying connected to the CRMC community: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2pQ4XY8EJm0Hj9kK-Yb1ibFrSXta9oMp

Looking for hands-on tools to support your math instruction? Check out the CRMC Manipulative Catalog! Educators can browse and request manipulatives to be mailed directly to you or returned through the mail—though we always love when teachers come in person to explore our full selection and find the best tools for their classrooms. To place an order or learn more, email Sarabeth Sansbury at sansbury_sarabeth@columbusstate.edu. Let us help you bring math to life for your students!
Ms. Min Jiang, Columbus High School
We’re excited to spotlight Ms. Min Jiang at Columbus High School, who recently checked out one of our straw rockets to explore and learn more about angles, velocity, and using quadratics. It’s wonderful to see teachers engaging with hands-on tools to deepen their understanding of math concepts.
Thank you, Ms. Jiang, for bringing curiosity and creativity into the classroom!

Upcoming External Regional Math Information
Youth College and Career Expo
We want to highlight an exciting opportunity for students in our region: the 7th Annual Youth College & Career Expo (YCCExpo), hosted by Let’s Grow STEAMx, will take place February 9–10, 2026 at the Columbus Trade Center. This event is one of the region’s largest and most impactful readiness experiences, connecting students with colleges, universities, industry partners, and workforce pathways. The expo provides a chance for students to explore postsecondary and STEAM-based academic opportunities, including those in mathematics. CRMC encourages schools and educators to participate and help students take full advantage of this unique learning and exploration experience. More details, including schedules and participation options, are available at their website: https://letsgrowsteam.org/yccexpo/.
2026 MathCounts Competition
Volunteers are needed for the 2026 MathCounts Competition on Saturday, January 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Columbus Technical College to assist with scoring. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and lunch (pizza) as a thank-you for their support. CRMC encourages you to share this opportunity with students, math clubs, and faculty who may be interested in helping. Event information is attached, and those interested should contact Jason Cooper (Terracon Columbus) directly at jason.cooper@terracon.com. Thank you for helping make this a successful and engaging experience for our regional Mathletes!
