As Lent began last week, we moved into a new worship series. Following our yearlong emphasis on the wisdom of scripture, we will use Lent to focus on Jesus' message to us found in the Sermon on the Mount. We look forward to making this Lenten journey together, and we hope worship will be part of how you mark this sacred time.

Serve our city's youth at The Connection!

United Methodist churches from across the Jackson area have joined together to create the Connection, a new spiritual formation opportunity for our teens where they will worship God, serve our community, and have fun together the last weekend of February.
We still need your help! PHUMC is responsible for individual snacks and bottled water for the worship service on Friday, February 23. These can be dropped off at the bins located in the foyer of both buildings.

Join us to learn your role in various committees and service to your church.

Local Church Lay Leader:  Understand your role—liaison between the clergy and your fellow church folks, committee commitments, and the ways laity serve the church.
Finance: Learn about the ministry of administration through best practices for the management of church finances.
Grief and Resiliency: Challenges and hardships. Change and uncertainty. Healing and fresh visions ahead. These are hallmark dimensions of grief and resiliency for individuals and churches.Come join us as we explore and learn.
Missions:Share practical ways to start new missions and keep focused on mission as the church grows and/or changes.
Student and Family Ministry:
Join us as we discuss the many ways to “protect your herd” as we cover the topics of Safe Sanctuary policies within the local church, spiritual formation and growth, and fundraising and connectional ideas to offer for all ages.

Trustees:The trustees provide the facilities and equipment for effective ministry within the local church. This workshop will provide information about the powers and limitations of the trustees in each congregation. We will also discuss risk management and self-inspections.

Staff/Parish Relations: So many times with ministry is boiled down to setting salaries and voting to keep the pastor. But the heart of this important work is setting leadership priorities and guiding the church in building healthy relationships. Be more than the pastor police, be kingdom builders.

Leadership 101: How do you discover and empower strong spiritual leaders and nurture order and structure that empowers ministry? This session is great for those who do the work of Nominations and all church leaders.

Have you ever wanted to learn to knit? A knitting class has been started and met for the first time in the Garden on Sunday afternoon this week. Check with the office about the schedule if you would like to join them.
PHUMC Ladies celebrated Galentine’s Day with a Secret Galentine Swap! So many treats and goodies were exchanged and much love was shared by all!
