Flying into Fall
Next time you're at PHUMC around sunset look up; every day there's an increasing chance you'll see a flight of birds, including our neighborhood geese, forming a southward-pointed V as they pass overhead. Why sunset? Many birds prefer to migrate at night, using the stars to navigate while avoiding turbulent air from daytime heating. They know what time it is, what they need to do, and how to do it.
We too have our rhythms this time of year, even if our lives or the world around us might be chaotic. In times of worry and work Jesus tells us to consider the birds of the air; of course that should include how they structure their lives in the seasons. If you're starting to feel the pressure, remember what you know to be true, what you know makes your path unnecessarily hard, and what you've been given to guide you. And like the birds in their aerodynamic groups, we do best what we do together
Our migration into fall is going to be plenty busy but plenty exciting. Read on to the Upcoming Events section for everything from our Wednesday night plans to our annual Fall Retreat. Most importantly, pay attention to the info on our upcoming Youth Showcase fundraiser!
