Recently a church member approached Pastor Dawn with the desire to make a monetary gift that would aid Parkway Hills in accomplishing a project that may not otherwise be possible at this point in time. The two discussed several options, and a plan was presented to the Leadership Board and was also a topic of discussion at the May Mission and Ministry night gathering. After deliberation with laity members, it has been decided that these funds will go towards the construction of a porte cochere, a covered drop-off area outside the worship center. This was in the original plans for the worship center building but was one of the things cut to stay on budget at the time.
While the construction of this new build is not projected to begin until the summer of 2026, deliberation and preparation with logistics, planning, and design will begin in the next few months.
With that being said, the architect working on the project, Mr. Joseph Orr, will be with us this Sunday, August 24th and will host a brief meeting following Worship to share the plans as well as answer any questions.
This project will be joined together with other crucial maintenance and building repair regarding some windows and our steeples. We hope to provide a timeline of the projects soon as well as information about how you can give to support this work...because while I firmly believe that the church IS the people, the walls and roof are important parts, too.
Please make plans to attend the meeting Sunday, August 24, following worship to meet the architect and see the plans. Remember, we do best the things we do together.
