Welcome     Grow     Serve    Celebrate

One of my favorite things about confirmation is the space provided for parents to share a little about their faith experience with their child and the other confirmands. I’m not sure how much the confirmands or the parents enjoy it, but I absolutely love hearing the stories. The things parents are asked to share: share about your baptism and/or confirmation experience if you had one and remember; how do you understand God or put another way, who is God for you; why is church part of your story, not just how you got to church, but why you continue to come; and why did you want your child to be a part of confirmation?
As we close out 11 months reflecting on lesser known characters and themes in scripture, as we continue to think about being characters in a story that we did not write and adding our own chapter, I want us as a congregation to reflect on these questions. Throughout July this will be our focus in worship using the Psalms to remind us of the beauty and mystery of gathering together as a people of faith. Thank you Rev. J.R. Hall for sharing last Sunday. We look forward to our youth leading us in worship this Sunday and Sunday, July 27, as we close out this series, we will hear from Alan Branson and our current Lay Leader Maggie King. If you feel so led, answer the questions yourself, email them to me, and maybe we can work them into worship or share each week in our newsletter.
Yes, I was glad when they said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord!
