Supreme Moment: Seven Respectful Recommendations to my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
JAG has the opportunity and the honor to speak with all people. However, at this moment, I want to speak first to my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Be Joyful. Justice Kennedy’s retirement has created the most significant judicial vacancy in the history of the United States. This moment is the pinnacle of much of our work since 1962. God has graciously given us another opportunity to take back the Supreme Court for His Glory. It is a great gift and we must take time to rejoice and be thankful for this incredible gift. Yes, we will work – but as we work – we must maintain the joy of the Lord because it is our strength.
Be Bold. Ask the President to nominate the absolute best person for this position. The opportunity of a lifetime demands our best nominee – not a stealth, compromise nominee who is calculated to win the votes of pro-abortion Senators. If the best nominee can’t win confirmation before November, then let the seat remain vacant!
It is better to have a vacant seat than one filled with a Judas for the next forty years! I repeat: better a vacant seat than one occupied by Judas!
If necessary, let the election for the future of the Senate be about this Supreme Court seat. That worked pretty well for us in the last election! But, let us not get in a rush, act in the flesh, and give this gift of a seat to a weak, compromise Justice who will betray us and haunt us for the next 40 years! We’ve done that before and we will not do it again! Dear Brothers and Sisters, Be Bold.
Act in Faith – Not Fear. The battle is already hot and is likely to turn white hot before our coming victory. There will surely be moments when we will be tempted to be anxious and afraid. Don’t give in. Take every thought captive and take your concerns to God in prayer. Faith is the evidence of things not yet seen. Watch what God is about to do. Consider what He has already done. Think about the miracles He has performed since Justice Scalia died. He did not bring us this far to fail.
Be Pro-Life. Our President campaigned on the promise that he would appoint Pro-Life Justices who would reverse Roe v. Wade. The Nation voted for Him and for Pro-Life Justices. Do not back away from this position. We are Pro-life. The President is Pro-Life. The next Justice must be unashamedly Pro-Life. Promises Made – Promises Kept. Victory is coming.
Commit to Victory at All Costs. Are you willing to be bolder than the enemies of the Living God? What does this moment mean to you? The other side is willing to fight. Are you? Make your decision now and stick with it. Accept nothing less than total victory. Lock into this fight and do not quit! God does not need our human strength – but he does need our faith and commitment. If the other side is obnoxious and hateful we will not respond in kind. Instead, we will be more bold, more committed, more tenacious than the enemies of the Living God!
Be Prophetic. Have you noticed that things have changed a bit in this Nation? The old ways are toast. God is doing new things and we cannot merely repeat the old play book. If we want a new thing – then we must be willing to do a new thing. His strategy in this nomination and confirmation is fresh and we must do it His way. So, seek Him yourself. Don’t merely listen to me or others. What is He saying to you? You are His sheep, and you absolutely hear His Voice.
Pray. We arrived at this moment through the grace of God and the faithful intercession of His saints. Prayer is what created this moment and prayer is what will deliver God’s Justice to the Supreme Court. There are many things He will lead us to pray, but I encourage you to join on this point:
Father God, as it was with the Prophet Jeremiah, so let it be with this next Supreme Court Justice. Before you formed this Justice in the womb, you knew them, you called them and appointed them to be a Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court at this moment. You know their name, their face and, most importantly, their heart. Let Your supernatural favor fall on them and light her countenance with Your Glory before President Trump and all his advisors. Let them shake their heads in amazed agreement that Your Choice is unmistakable. Let the other prospects be truly blessed in their other callings – but let them not be blessed in this. We call forth Your one appointed Justice at this moment in History. Let them – and them only – be seated on the Supreme Court in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ!
