Please join us in welcoming General Cardiologist Shakeel Jamal, MD, to Memorial Medical Center and to our community. The addition of Dr. Jamal helps us continue to elevate the level of cardiac care available to the communities of Southern New Mexico.
Dr. Jamal is welcoming new patients at New Mexico Cardiac Care and specializes in a wide variety of cardiac issues, including congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease and hypertension.
Having recently completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, Dr. Jamal states that he loves providing guideline-based and patient-centered treatment to individuals with various cardiovascular illnesses.

| Memorial Wound Care Center Recognized With Two National Awards for Clinical Excellence
| |
We are very proud to announce that Memorial Wound Care Center has been awarded both the prestigious 2024 Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Clinical Excellence Award and the esteemed 2024 Center of Distinction award from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.
Memorial’s Wound Care Center scored in the top 10 percent of eligible Healogics Wound Care Centers on the Clinical Excellence measure, which is the Comprehensive Healing Rate weighted by wound mix. This award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.
To earn Center of Distinction status, the MMC Wound Care Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate higher than 92 percent. These recognitions are a testament to the exceptional care and dedication demonstrated by the center’s physicians, leaders, and clinicians.
Memorial Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics network of more than 600 wound care centers and offers highly specialized wound care and limb preservation to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.
The team members at MMC are making a huge difference in the lives of those who have been without hope of healing.
Advanced wound care modalities provided by Memorial wound care experts include negative-pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The center also offers our community's only hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

| Recapping Community Outreach: Setting Local Students Up For Success
| |
Our MMC “Backpack Buddies” tradition returned this year as we proudly donated 400 backpacks to Las Cruces Public Schools elementary school students. Supporting local students is a cause that has been and always will be near and dear to our hearts.
Additionally, our Auxiliary and generous team members donated a variety of supplies to fill these backpacks and to help set up students for success in the classroom. Special thank you to Elaine Rosas-Lunas, our fantastic Facilities Management Coordinator, for spearheading this effort for more than 20 years.
We were also thrilled to help collect supplies at this year's communitywide Stuff The Bus Event, held July 12th at Dona Ana Community College's East Mesa Campus. Here’s to a productive, happy and healthy school year!
