Barb Miller is the new Tribal Relations Director for UW Extension. This is a statewide position with a collaborative effort to develop, manage and enhance Extension’s relationships with the Tribes of Wisconsin and Tribal Colleges/Universities with respect to areas of mutual interest. Barb began November 11, 2024 and is working from Brown County.
Barb Miller grew up in the Stockbridge-Munsee tribal community and is a member of the Mohican Nation and a descendent of the Menominee Nation. She has a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling and almost 30 years of experience in education. Barb has been successful in implementing and managing programs and services to elevate university enrollment and graduation of Asian, Black, Latinx and Indigenous students. She has served as a guidance counselor, academic advisor, recruitment and retention specialist, Multicultural Student Services director and American Indian Center and Center of First Nations directors. She describes being grateful to learn and collaborate with students, staff, faculty and community members while working to strengthen communities and our state.

The Brown County 4-H Afterschool Program, which reaches a dozen elementary schools in the Green Bay area throughout the year, is still looking for a 4-H Program Instructor!
We are currently recruiting for afterschool instructors to join us for the school year in delivering hands on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) sessions with K-5th graders in the afterschool hours. Extension Educators Recognized at All Colleague Conference |
Kevin Erb, Conservation Professional Training Program Manager, was recognized at the University of Madison Division of Extension All Colleagues Conference and was awarded the Excellence in Education and Outreach Award.
For the past 20+ years, in his current role as Program Manager for the Conservation Professional Development Training Program, Kevin is responsible for bringing in millions of grant dollars to support a wide range of activities, including training opportunities for conservation advisors (from local to federal agencies and private consultants). He develops training modules and curriculum, partners with NGOs, agencies (DNR, etc.), and private sector groups to deliver instructors and content.
Recognized as well were two Brown County FoodWIse colleagues, Liliana Ramirez Gonzalez, Nutrition Coordinator, and Sarah Chisholm, Nutrition Educator. Liliana and Sarah received the Excellence in Teamwork Award for their work on the Growing Together initiative, a multi-state program that grants funding and provides mentorship from master gardeners to create gardens for low-income community members.
According to Extension News, "Between 2017 and 2023, 195 Wisconsin Master Gardeners volunteered over 5,000 hours of their time to Growing Together projects to donate over 30,000 pounds of produce to 62 donation sites statewide. In five years, Extension has leveraged $110,000 of SNAP-Ed funding and $75,000 of other funds to successfully initiate and support Growing Together projects."
