Call for Student Artwork

Local artist, Susan Patrick, is collecting artwork from local refugees and immigrants to include in a new exhibit. Any students who would like to have their art on display can contact our office to find out more. Patrick's current collection World Art Exhibit can be viewed at the McGuffey Art Center.

Investing in Adult Literacy

Thanks to the generosity of several donors, we officially launched a $25,000 Matching Gift Campaign at Wordplay.
Now through June 30 any donations to Literacy Volunteers will be matched, dollar-for-dollar. Don't miss this opportunity to double your impact!
To date, we have raised just over $6,500. We need your help to reach our goal. Won't you join us in investing in Adult Education and investing in our neighbors?
Funds raised through this matching gift campaign will support our additional volunteer training events, the additional technology we need, and extra meeting space.

Summer Citizenship Class Begins Monday, June 12

Due to the popularity of our Spring Citizenship Class, we are offering an additional citizenship class over the summer. This class will be held on Monday evenings and is best suited for those with intermediate English speaking skills. Anyone interested in registering for the class, who is not a LVCA student, must register today, Monday, June 5 between 12:00 noon and 7:00 PM. Please call our office with any questions, 434-977-3838.
This spring we had 12 students complete the 12-week course. We've had 15 students obtain their citizenship this year and several of them have the opportunity to be sworn in on July 4 at Monticello.
