Experiential Learning at its Best!
Have you heard that the Department of Nutrition offers a very cool class? The class is NUTR 430/530 - Introduction to Wine and Beer! The class is offered every spring and includes a field trip to a winery and brewery to see the production process in person. Dr. Kerri Lacharite has been offering these experiences to students in the class for many years. The field trips are not required, but are well attended and the guidelines and attention to the students during the experience are impressive - no one leaves without checking in with the instructor and everyone is offered snacks if they are interested! This content is studied in class, and students absorb the content and better understand the process seeing the vineyard, equipment, and production. If there is ever an extra ticket, I recommend attending. A fantastic experience!
