Important COVID & Calendar Information!
Dear Fenwick Students & Families:

Our 93rd school year begins in one month, and we at Fenwick are very excited!
Last year’s hybrid learning model was successful given the circumstances. Test scores and college placements continued to excel, very few COVID cases were transmitted in school, and Fenwick remained largely open throughout the school year. As the COVID-19 pandemic is not over and it is still an evolving public health crisis, we will again need the entire community’s cooperation to make the 2021-22 school year even more successful.
As previously announced, Fenwick will return to full capacity, five days per week with no eLearning options for this academic year.

In general, Fenwick will rely on the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Village of Oak Park Public Health Department to ensure the safety of the entire Fenwick Community.
Vaccination & Mask Requirements
 As of today, Fenwick will not require that all students, faculty and staff be fully vaccinated.
As of today, Fenwick will not require all fully vaccinated students, faculty and staff to wear masks.

 Per a meeting earlier this week with the Village of Oak Park Public Health Department, under whose jurisdiction Fenwick falls, and director Dr. Theresa Chapple-McGruder, non-vaccinated students, faculty and staff are mandated to wear masks in school.
 Anyone at any time is welcome to wear a mask.
 Any unvaccinated community member who comes in close contact with a positive case is subject to quarantine requirements.
 The Village of Oak Park Public Health Department has stated that if Fenwick can demonstrate that at least 70% of our community is fully vaccinated, mask guidelines or mandates may be relaxed.
 Therefore, there is great incentive to provide proof of vaccination –
          > Collectively, to reach 70% and potentially avoid mask requirements/mandates.
          > Individually, to avoid quarantine requirements.

  • Parents, if your daughter or son has received the COVID-19 vaccine, please upload the student's CDC card or an immunization record from their doctor as soon as possible to the Magnus system or email it to healthoffice@fenwickfriars.com.
The following requirements have been mandated by the
Village of Oak Park Public Health Department.
School Bus Requirements
All those riding in a bus must be masked regardless of vaccination status.
Further information on bus protocols will be forthcoming.
Quarantine Requirements
> In the event of a positive case, all unvaccinated within 6 feet of the individual will need to quarantine. (In the case of lunch when students are unmasked, the distance could be more than 6 feet.)
> The length of quarantine will be 10-14 days depending on whether or not a testing program is in place. More details will be forthcoming on this process.

In the case that a student is quarantined, it will be treated as an illness. The student must work with the faculty members to keep up with homework, assignments, and so on. Again, there is no remote-learning option this school year.
NOTE: Antibody testing for those previously infected with the COVID-19 virus will not release them from close-contact quarantine if they are more than 91 days post-infection.
Our Campus Reopening Task Force will continue to monitor any updated Covid protocols. We are grateful for your support and cooperation. You can expect regular communications from Fenwick in the next month with information on this developing health and safety situation.

Fenwick is thrilled for the new school and a return to more "normal" times. Your continued cooperation will only increase the chances that Fenwick will return to fully normal operations as soon as possible. Thank you for entrusting your children to our care. We take that responsibility very seriously and expect that these announcements about school operations reflect our continued belief that the health and safety of our entire community is our first priority. May God bless us all.
Sincerely,
