Portland State Athletics mourns Jim Wallis |
Portland State Athletics honors the memory of Jim Wallis, long-time Director of Sports Medicine, who passed away in December. Wallis served PSU for over 30 years, supporting thousands of Viking athletes. Hired in 1989, he guided the transformation of PSU’s athletic training facilities from a 400-square-foot room to the 4,000-square-foot OHSU Sports Medicine Center by his retirement in 2020.
Wallis was a pioneer in kinesio taping, a published author, and a trainer for U.S. Fencing and Saber teams. He also taught in PSU’s School of Community Health and received numerous accolades, including induction into the Oregon Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame.
Portland State remembers Wallis for his unwavering dedication and impact on Viking Athletics.
