Student Spotlight

EMORY PEACHER '16
Loves about Brebeuf:
It isn’t hard to find people that you can easily connect with. Every year I gain new friends and it really adds a sense of community, which makes a small school actually seem kind of big.
Favorite Class:
My favorite class was Anatomy. It was such an interesting course that broke down all of the aspects of the body, from organs all the way to cell functions. I enjoyed the hands-on activities that helped me understand the large-scale concepts.
Future Plans:
After graduating I hope to be accepted into the nursing program at University of Cincinnati. Once I’ve received my education I want to spend a few years traveling to impoverished countries in need of medical assistance. After I finish, I want to go back to school to specialize in a particular field.
Teams & Co-Curriculars:

Bowling
Volunteer for Gigi’s Playhouse
Volunteer for Lord's Pantry
Random Fact:
I bite my nails every time I take a math test. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even notice anymore. It’s really gross.
Is Brebeuf as academically rigorous as they say?
I would say yes, it is rigorous, due to the learning pace and quantity of work assigned, but it can be made easier with time management. I can easily get overwhelmed with the amount of things I have to do if I don’t keep up with everything. Making time to get homework done, get help from teachers, and rest are the main ways that I keep school work from becoming too much for me to handle.
Who is your hero?
My mom is one of my biggest heroes ever. She is very smart, caring, and genuine. She has all of the qualities that I believe make a strong woman and provider. She continues to show me that independence and hard work can help you actually achieve the things that you wish for.
What is your dream job?
My dream job would be to get paid to travel to different places every week. I wouldn’t even care where I’m going, just as long as it is a new place every time. I love traveling more than anything and I think it would be cool to see all the parts of the earth for free.

Senior Pictures

Senior students must sit for their senior yearbook picture by November 11, 2015 with Prestige Portraits. Parents and/or students are responsible for making these arrangements. Brebeuf is not informed if a student does not get a photo taken, so failure to do this means that student will not be included in the senior picture section of the Yearbook.
Families may call 317.829.2088 or go to www.PrestigeIndiana.com immediately to schedule an appointment.  These appointments fill up quickly so call TODAY if you have not. (Please Note - Personal senior photos do not need to be taken by Prestige - only the Yearbook pose).
The cost is $15.00 for the Yearbook sitting fee, and wardrobe is provided by Prestige (tuxedo top for the boys, black drape for the girls).

#BrebeufDrives Begins this Month

Brebeuf Jesuit is embracing a new community-wide effort, #BrebeufDrives, a monthly program centered around uniting Brebeuf in giving and modeling service for the vulnerable and underserved populations of Indianapolis.  These monthly drives provide a great opportunity for our school community—students, parents, faculty and alumni--to actively be ‘men and women for others.’
Beginning on October 1, #BrebeufDrives’ first collection will benefit the Catholic Charities Crisis Office.  The Crisis Office indicated several needs that our drive can help fulfill: toothbrushes, toothpaste, and socks.  These much-needed items can be dropped off in the collection boxes located in the Gym Lobby and Front Lobby.  Items may also be left in Nick Klingler's office located in the Student Commons.
The focus of November's #BrebeufDrive will be to assist with the collection of items for Brebeuf's annual tradition of Help for the Holidays.  In the months to follow, further communications from Brebeuf will let families know the focus of the #BrebeufDrives on a monthly basis.
Any interested parents wishing to assist with these drives in our school community may contact Nick Klingler in Community Service (nklingler@brebeuf.org).

Senior Yearbook Ads

The Yearbook reserves pages for Senior Ads that parents can buy as a gift to honor their seniors. It's so simple to create your own.  Simply go to www.yearbookforever.com, search for Brebeuf, and select the size of ad you'd like to purchase.  Once paid online, you'll be given the opportunity to design your ad with your personal photos and content.  You must purchase and submit your ad by February 1, 2016.
Last year, some parents had technical difficulties that were hard to resolve over email, so the yearbook staff hosted assistance sessions. This year, the yearbook staffers will host these one-on-one design sessions again to ensure parents can create the ad they want to honor their kids.  If you would like this complimentary service, please attend one of the following sessions:
  • November 14, 2015 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the France Stone Room
  • December 12, 2015 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the France Stone Room
  • January 23, 2016 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the France Stone Room
  • January 30, 2016 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the France Stone Room
The Yearbook is submitted in pieces during the year.  A certain number of pages are due every month.  The above deadlines have been made as late as possible to accommodate families, but the deadlines cannot be extended if you or your student miss them.  We've been communicating senior picture deadlines and other information since last April through class meeting announcements, information on the school website, school-wide announcements, homeroom announcements, and tweets.  We want to ensure each student is proudly featured in the Yearbook; graduating from high school is a major accomplishment!  Thank you for your support and attention in making sure that your students are recognized.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Hadley Moore, Yearbook Instructor at hmoore@brebeuf.org.
