Happy Pride Month! As we celebrate this June, we honor the vibrant legacy and profound contributions of LGBTQIA+ communities around the world. Pride is more than just a celebration – it is a powerful reminder of progress made through decades of advocacy and activism, where we reaffirm our commitment to building a truly inclusive future for all.

This year, we’re incredibly thrilled to share news that Teagan Rabuano MA ’19, BFA ’18 has been appointed as the Director of the NYU LGBTQ+ Center. Teagan is a valued member of our community– a double graduate who earned both her BFA in Theater and Gender & Sexuality Studies, and her MA in Arts Politics at NYU Tisch. Her deep connection to NYU, combined with over a decade of experience in LGBTQ+ advocacy, drives her dedicated support for students and the wider community. Having already made a significant impact as interim director, Teagan brings a community-centered and collaborative approach to her leadership. Her vision and enthusiastic spirit will strengthen and expand the Center’s vital work in the years to come.

The Gay Chorus: No Time at All

Experience this sound installation by artist Matthew Leifheit, located at the New York City AIDS Memorial. This project draws from an archive of gay men’s chorus recordings from 1985-1995, liberating long-unheard voices in an hour-long recital that loops daily. Designed to cover the space in a reflective auditory experience, it offers an uplifting reflection for Pride Month.

Join the New York City AIDS Memorial and National AIDS Memorial for a free screening of the new short documentary Cashing Out. Directed by Matt Nadel, this film explores the morally complex “AIDS profiteering” industry where thousands of queer people sold their life insurance policies for cash at the height of the AIDS crisis. The screening will be followed by a Q&A moderated by filmmaker Sian-Pierre Regis. Reservation required.
