The Means of Grace
(How United Methodists DO Discipleship)
The Bible tells us that Jesus’ followers are called disciples. If we want to be counted among those followers, then doesn’t it make sense that we figure out just what being a disciple looks like in everyday life?
In The Means of Grace, Andrew C. Thompson presents a clear and accessible explanation of the core tenets John Wesley instilled in the early Methodist movement—baptism, searching the scriptures, prayer, The Lord’s Supper, fasting, fellowship, accountability, works of mercy, and exercising the presence of God. Each means of grace is drawn from biblical examples and paired with a framework to offer a real, practical model for a life marked by Holy love and Holy transformation.
Wesley had a phrase for what it means to live faithfully as a disciple of Jesus: walking in the ways of GodThe practices and habits explained in The Means of Grace demonstrate a Wesleyan pattern of discipleship and help us understand what these ways of God are.
Please let the office know if you want to purchase the soft-cover book to complement the class.  The cost of the book is $22.  Though the book is recommended, reading the book is not required to participate in the class.
Important Leadership Training
Saturday, January 28th, from 8:30 to 11:45 am, Anderson United Methodist Church will host this year's District-Wide Training Event, "Loving, Learning, and Leading".  There is no cost, but please pre-register through this invitation to secure your spot and allow our District to plan more efficiently.
We are so excited and grateful His Kitchen will help to support the mission team going to Costa Rica with their casserole profits.  WOW!  ORDER HERE for pick-up this Monday, January 23rd: then, PLEASE SHARE THIS LINK WITH OTHERS!  Help us spread the word - the more casseroles we sell, the more ministries we can support.  It will also help if you will like and share the His Kitchen Facebook Page.
Tomorrow, we gather together to remember our dear friend, Sherry Felder. Visitation begins at 9:30 am in our sanctuary, immediately followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 am.  Come celebrate her life, which overflowed with selfless love, abundant joy, and the peace that only comes from walking close to Christ!  One last way to honor Sherry: let's be sure we take care of Bert:  CLICK HERE to sign up to bring him a meal.  Thank you.
