PRESIDENT'S LETTER

Dear Parents and Guardians –

Well, we made it to the end of the school year! While the path was not easy, we did it as a community. Thank you for being flexible with us as we made the move to Distance Learning. A special thank you to our teachers who really stepped-up to make sure our young men continued to learn effectively.

As of this communication, there is nothing that is final for the next school year. However, please know that we will navigate these unchartered waters in three ways – Pray, Plan, and Protect. Continue Reading

LETTER FROM THE VP FOR ACADEMIC LIFE

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Friends of De La Salle,
It almost goes without saying that this semester was a challenge. Still, I want to communicate that your sons not only met the challenge of this semester, but also exceeded all of our expectations. We have witnessed our students’ resilience, humor, academic engagement, creativity, and adaptability. We miss them deeply, and we are so impressed by what they have accomplished.
As you know, we have planned an alternate Baccalaureate Liturgy and Graduation for August 1st and 2nd, and we had a delightful and moving Senior Send-Off Parade on Saturday, May 23rd.  Continue Reading

GRADUATION WEEKEND

De La Salle continues to work through logistics to host two key school traditions, the Baccalaureate Liturgy and Graduation, as face-to-face celebrations. The school is planning to hold our Graduation Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, August 1st and 2nd.
De La Salle will host the Baccalaureate Liturgy on Saturday, August 1st at 5 p.m., and is actively planning an in-person graduation and reception for Sunday, August 2nd.
As a back-up, we will have recorded a virtual graduation ceremony that includes both speeches and awards (including those normally given at Senior Presentation) and that uses our seniors’ graduation pictures.
Given the postponement/cancellation of a number of social events for seniors and their families (Mother/Son Brunch, Dads & Grads, and Senior Ball), De La Salle is planning on a hosted celebration with food, music, and other fun activities for our seniors and their families following the graduation ceremony.

VIRTUAL TOWN HALL MEETINGS

During the summer, De La Salle High School will host Virtual Town Hall Meetings for families, in an effort to answer questions about the 2020-21 school year. The topics for these meetings will include Athletics, Academics, Campus Life and Faith Life, and a State of the School update.
Tentative Town Hall Meetings are planned for the week of June 15-19 (Athletics), June 22-26 (Academics), June 29-July 3 (Campus Life/Faith Life), and July 13-17 (School Update)
Individual registration will be required for each of these Town Hall Meetings. De La Salle will send registration and speaker information to families a week prior to the meeting. The information for the Zoom meeting will be provided as part of your registration confirmation email.

SENIOR SEND-OFF

On Saturday, May 23, on what would have been graduation weekend for the Class of 2020, De La Salle High School held a special Senior Send-off parade to honor this year’s graduating class. Many members of the faculty and staff were on campus for this unique and special celebration, honoring this year’s seniors. If you have not seen it, click on the image below to enjoy the video commemorating this event, celebrating the Spartan Class of 2020.

ATHLETICS

After the 2019-20 school year, the Athletic Department produced a couple of videos to honor its student-athletes. The first was a  recognition video honoring student-athlete award winners from all sports. The second was a farewell video to the seniors, as each coach spent a few minutes sharing goodwill wishes and saying good-bye to the graduating seniors in their program. ANNUAL FUND

All of us at De La Salle High School hope you and your family are doing well in these unprecedented times. Everyone's had to adjust to the “new normal,” and life at De La Salle is not immune. We have had to cancel or postpone many activities on and around campus, and our students worked hard through distance learning.
We have received many calls for help within our community, especially the need for tuition assistance. To answer this call, with counsel from the President's Cabinet, Board of Trustees, and Finance Committee, President Mark DeMarco ’78 announced that tuition for next school year will not increase in an effort to do our part to help our families in these uncertain times. Also, the school has increased its budget for financial aid awards for the 2020-2021 school year to $4 million.
But we know this will not be enough. As shelter-in-place restrictions and uncertainty continues, so does much uncertainty for our families. We need your help now more than ever. Your philanthropy plays a huge roll in allowing De La Salle to support all of our students in need, now and into the 2020-2021 school year.
We ask if you have not had the opportunity to make a gift to the Annual Fund, that you consider helping now with a gift of any amount. All gifts will help our school and students as we weather this pandemic together.
Spartans together, we will weather this storm. Spartans forever, we will be – always.
