Off-Campus? Remember the 2020 U.S. Census!
Regardless of where you are registered to vote, you should fill out the United States Census 2020
based on where you live the majority of the year. For most of you, that’s Amherst! It is important that everyone living off campus fill out the census accurately as to how many people live in your home or apartment and answer the associated questions (note: this is not the responsibility of your landlord). If you live in a residence hall or campus apartment, you will be counted by the university and do not need to fill out a census form.
The census only has seven questions and does NOT have a question on citizenship, so non-citizens and international students should be included as well. Further, no census data can be shared with law enforcement, and data directly impacts congressional districting and the federal money the state receives, so answer honestly! Every household will get an invitation to participate in March. You can answer the questions online, by phone, or by mail before April 1, so be sure to fill out the census.
