For the ninth consecutive year, UW-Whitewater is among the Colleges of Distinction, a national honor that recognizes campuses for exceptional teaching and dedication to student success. The university is one of five public schools in the state to earn the honor and one of two to be awarded specifically for its support of international students.

Charity softball game tickets available at discount
|
Tickets for the Border Brouhaha, a charity softball game benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin this Sunday, July 27, at ABC Supply Stadium in Beloit, are available to UW-Whitewater students, faculty and staff at a discounted rate starting at $25 per ticket. Guests include Green Bay Packers legends Mason Crosby and Jordy Nelson and other Wisconsin celebrities.

Kudos to Rimi Zakaria, professor of management, who was named a Fulbright U.S. scholar for 2025-26 and was selected to the Women in the Academy of International Business (WAIB) Board as secretary/treasurer. Kudos to Ozgul Kartal, associate professor of curriculum and instruction, and Wade Tillett, professor of curriculum and instruction, on their publication in the International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education, a top-tier journal in the field of math education. UW-Whitewater’s Enactus chapter was featured by the Janesville Gazette after claiming the Enactus USA national championship in May. Choton Basu, Enactus advisor and professor of information technology and supply chain management, and students Trevor Erath, an entrepreneurship and innovation major from Sherwood, Ryan Hokanson, an information technology major from Mount Pleasant, and Jaelyn Krohn, an elementary-middle education and Spanish major from Waukesha, are quoted in the article.

Did you know that UW-Whitewater’s sports medicine staff provides health care for the Warhawks’ 600 student-athletes who participate in NCAA Division III sports each year? Steve Hillmer, director of sports medicine, was recognized last month as the recipient of the National Athletic Trainers Association-Intercollegiate Sport Medicine Council Doug Boersma New Horizon Award, which honors an athletic trainer who has demonstrated the attributes of a future leader in the profession.

Warhawk balances busy schedule on path to degrees

Cole Mahlkuch, a first-generation college student who graduated magna cum laude with a BSE in physical education, health education, and adapted PE in May, will continue his journey as a UW-Whitewater student in the MSE in higher education leadership (HELEAD) program.
