Become a Safe Harbor Ambassador!

Safe Harbor Ambassadors are highly trained volunteers who can represent Safe Harbor at community outreach events such as fundraisers, tabling events, speaking engagements, and more! Ambassadors are essential in guiding our outreach efforts by helping us identify communities we are not reaching and helping us provide meaningful outreach to them.
There is so much room for flexibility and creativity within our Ambassador Program. Reach out to Lisa Nalley, Volunteer Coordinator, at lisa.nalley@safeharborsc.org for more information!

Join the Summer Fun!

REP's Community Youth Action Projects combine domestic violence and relationship abuse education with a service component that gives back to Safe Harbor.
We are looking for teen summer groups to host commmunity youth action projects!
By empowering young people to engage in this topic, we will help our community reduce and heal from domestic violence.
If you know a group, or are a group that is interested, contact John Poland at johnp@safeharborsc.org.

Centering LGBTQ+ Survivors in June

June is Pride Month and the perfect opportunity to center the experiences of LGBTQ+ survivors and celebrate changemakers!

Domestic violence can affect anyone, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity, but we know that homophobia and transphobia make it more difficult when someone in the LGBTQ+ community is experiencing DV. In relationships involving at least one LGBTQ+ person, the person who harms may take advantage of homophobia and transphobia to abuse their partners. Examples include threatening to out their partner against their will or using hurtful slurs associated with their sexual orientation or gender expression.
Everyone deserves to feel safe and valued in their relationships. You can help influence cultural change by learning more about this topic and talking about it with your friends and loved ones.
Learn more and check out our social media this month to celebrate changemakers from the LGBTQ+ community!

We need your help!

While continuing to follow CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are thrilled to begin welcoming more volunteers back at Safe Harbor!
We are seeking dedicated individuals and groups who can share their time and talents answering calls on our help line and volunteering on various projects as a group.
Help Line: Volunteers will be responsible for answering help line calls, completing phone intake assessment forms and documenting information from calls.
Group Projects: Small groups (10 or fewer) are needed to assist with various projects across Safe Harbor's three shelters (Greenville, Anderson, and Oconee.) Projects include yard work, painting, sorting donations, and cleaning/organizing playrooms and other spaces.
Safe Harbor staff and volunteers are following COVID-19 health safety precautions, including social distancing, wearing masks and increased hand-washing and sanitizing, at all of our shelters and office locations.
Learn more about our volunteer opportunities and contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa Nalley, at lisa.nalley@safeharborsc.org or 864.385.7182 if you/your group are interested!

Pride Link needs our help to create the Queer Wellness Center!

"The Upstate, SC LGBTQ+ community has never had a space of our very own. There has never been a stand-alone physical location they can point to and say “That’s where I belong! That’s where I can find my people and get the help I need. That’s where I know I can go and be treated with respect. This Fall, that is changing! In partnership with Amaryllis Counseling and 864Pride, Pride Link has secured a 6,000 square foot building that will be the home of the Queer Wellness Center – a community center and wellness clinic for LGBTQ+ people of all ages. We need YOUR help to get the space ready to open and provide the critical services our community needs."
If you'd like to help this vision become a reality, please visit the donation page for the Queer Wellness Center.
