Report from the 2023 IFF Assembly
Nancy Haller and Candy Conino attended the IFF Assembly Meeting as representatives of FGNA in May 10-14, 2023. The meeting was held online. Attending was challenging because of the time differences and made our regularly scheduled activities a bit more difficult but was well worth the time and effort.
Two of the notable announcements at the meeting concerned the recent exciting material releases and a call for volunteers - especially language translators to help with translating materials into different languages.
The new material releases include: - Moshe Feldenkrais Biographical Interview with Mark Reese: available for purchase and free streaming - The final week of Amherst, transcripts, 1980 Week 9 - Complete the digitization of the Amherst Training and make it available for download (rental streaming is being worked on) - The Gaby Yaron, Mastery in Functional Integration® series - 4 additional Amherst evening Fl® lessons - 26 additional AY Lessons in French. - 17 additional AY lessons in Spanish.
Requests from the IFF Materials Committee for various types of volunteers: - Dedicated reviewers needed for unknown and unpublished materials - Audio editors needed - Video editors needed - Translators needed - Volunteers needed for photo collections - Volunteers needed for articles collections
If you wish to volunteer for any of the above please contact Nancy Haller at fgnapres@gmail.com. This would be a great way to contribute if you can.

FGNA ZOOM Cafe: Legacy Forum’s Collaborative Learning Project
We recognize that many Feldenkrais PractitionersCM feel isolated from their colleagues. A NATAB Survey on Practitioners and a previous Legacy Café have confirmed that there is a need and desire for ongoing informal sharing of ideas and continuing learning in ways that are affordable and accessible.
What areas would you like to learn more about? What expertise would you like to share? How do you like to learn? Do you know people involved in the areas of interest to you? What questions would you like to be asked about your development?
Let’s come together with Legacy Forum’s Collaborative Learning Project for a ZOOM Café to explore needs and interests, learning styles, and ideas that you feel would be useful for personal and professional development.
Your input is vital to make this project a reality.

Taiji Chicken or Feldenkrais® Egg? With Oliver Reimer
"I first learned about the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education from a Taiji (Taichi) teacher — it was love at first sight. Ever since I’ve explored how these two practices can enhance each other.
In ATM® lessons we lie on the floor exploring novel movement patterns. We get up and we feel some lovely changes - new awareness of how we can move with greater ease. A few minutes later we return to “civilian” life and our lifetime of movement habits takes over. We have had a nice time on the floor and learned to appreciate our capability for easy movement but sometimes it seems that we leave a lot on the mat.
Taiji for me provides a middle ground between the pure movement of ATM and the habitual movements of everyday life. It is an applied science lab where we can test what we did on the floor in movement patterns that are also novel. But they are done upright and they are ones that are practiced slow in order to be able to be very fast and powerful. Fast and powerful because we learn to move with the whole body and with relaxation to learn not to stumble over ourselves.
Even if we practice Taiji a lot, the movement patterns are very close to the surface and easier to observe and change than the movements patterns of every day existence.
These are ideas that interest me. I’m curious about what I’ll learn from you." - Oliver

Health Care Provider Survey
Dear Feldenkrais® colleague,
If you are a Feldenkrais Practitioner working in healthcare, please take a few minutes to complete this anonymous survey.
As health care providers, we are able to offer this precious somatic and experiential work to our clients. At the same time, we might experience challenges having to adhere to the parameters of medical approach. We want to learn more about your practice
The goal of this anonymous survey is to determine if and how Feldenkrais practitioners are bringing aspects of the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education into their clinical practice. If not, then what are the barriers to integrating Feldenkrais into their clinical practice. From this survey we hope to better understand the breadth of interdisciplinary applications of the Feldenkrais method.
