ALUMNI PROFILES
Name: Paige Thomas
Graduation Year: 2008
Currently reside: Indianapolis, IN
Job Title: Associate Director of Global Engagement, Indiana University Alumni Association
Favorite class while at Brebeuf Jesuit? While there were so many classes I enjoyed, Honors Biotech with Ms. Annee took the cake. I loved her teaching – relatable, reliable, supportive, and pure comedy – but the hands-on approach to learning made it so much easier to comprehend more difficult topics for me. At the end of the year, we worked together in groups to solve a [make believe] crime, and it was so engaging and fun that the memory has stuck with me all these years. Shoutout to Ms. Annee for being a gem of an educator!
Favorite teacher/coach? Mr. Joe Harvey, rest in peace, was one of the most influential people at Brebeuf for me.
What was inspiring about him/her?
As an athletic trainer, he often saw me during my most tough and vulnerable times (preventing, treating, or rehabbing an injury). There were a lot of times that despite the chaos in the training room, he was kind, supportive, and patient. The year we won a state championship in 2007, I also suffered a broken hand as a starter just a few days before semi-state. I will never forget how he uplifted me and promised to do everything he could to help me. Because of him and Dr. Fisher, I was able to play in the state game. It meant the world to me.
What are you doing now?
In my current role I serve as the Associate Director of Global Engagement for Indiana University Alumni Association. I engage IU alumni in key international markets via their time, talent, and treasure that supports the strategic plan of the university. I absolutely love building relationships with alumni and am blown away by their kindness, resiliency, and creativity.
How did Brebeuf Jesuit help shape you into the person you are today?
Brebeuf shaped me in several ways but most importantly it taught me the power of reflection. For the first time, I really bought into the power of reflection and how to incorporate it into various aspects of my life. From classroom exercises, to experiences like Kairos, reflection was positioned as a life-giving, transformative, and change-making practice. Both personally and professionally, intentional reflection is an integral part of my way of living now.
Words of wisdom or advice to our current students.
“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s unbecoming everything that isn’t you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” – Paulo Coelho

Brebeuf Food Drive Going on Now!
Brebeuf Jesuit is once again holding a canned food drive during Lent through March 27. Period 4 classrooms will track collections to compete and see which class can bring in the most donations.
In years past, St. Vincent de Paul has fed roughly 12,000 individuals each week. Please consider donating to help feed the 3,000+ families that rely on St. Vincent DePaul for their food.
HOW TO HELP
To contribute to the drive, send any canned food items to Brebeuf with a student. Benchmark collection days will happen every Day 4. To contribute monetarily, the Mothers Association has organized a donation link for the drive. You can also send in cash or a check with a student who can deliver it to the Community Service Office (please make checks out to: St. Vincent de Paul, memo: Food Pantry). Thank you!

Relic Tour Brings The Skull of St. Jean de Brébeuf to Campus
We were honored to host a relic of our patron St. Jean de Brébeuf last Saturday, and to welcome over 150 visitors from the Brebeuf community and beyond.
Fr. Eric Immel, SJ, from the Jesuit Vocations team, and Isaac Beck, from the Midland, Ontario, Martyrs' Shrine, shared about the life of Brébeuf and the relic, and Fr. Chris Johnson, SJ, led us in opening and closing prayer.
Visitors had a chance to pray with the relic and to learn more about Jean de Brébeuf and the North American martyrs. Many were especially appreciative of the chance to pray with a new translation of Brébeuf's Christmas Carol and to see our beautiful chapel sgraffito honoring the North American Martyrs.

Senior Hollis Carbrey Attends Molecular Medicine in Action Symposium
Hollis Carbrey '24 recently attended the Molecular Medicine in Action symposium at the IU School of Medicine. Students in this program hear from clinicians, researchers, and clinician scientists about their own career pathways, their research, and the "bench to bedside" approach where research is directly applied to patient care. Additionally, students visit researchers' labs and participate in practical lab work that mimics how the researchers investigate the dilemmas with which they are faced.
