Thursday, Oct. 5, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Boulder Rural Fire Rescue office, 6230 Lookout Rd., in Gunbarrel

Recommended Read
Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
"Teenager Kafka Tamura runs away from home to the island of Shikoku, where he spends his time at a private library. Concurrently, Satoru Nakata, a finder of lost cats, goes on an odyssey across Japan in search of an 'entrance stone.' Like most of Murakami's books, this one is bizarre in the best ways. Even as the two interweaving plots bend the reader's mind at odd angles, the pages fly by."

Overheard at the library...

"I'm making a documentary about Crested Butte history. I needed to preview a 16mm ektachrome turned magenta to see if I wanted to digitize it. I'm so grateful to Joel (Haertling) and the library for offering this amazing service. It saved me both time and money, and it was a great sense of community and support. I learned a lot from Joel - he's so great!! Thank you!"
- Alison B. (in a note about the program she attended, Old School Film School New School Film School, in August at the library)
