Write Poems!

Ft. Silverman Fellows
April is National Poetry Month! Get creative with these writing prompts:
1. Find five items around your house that have words on them--they could be books, food labels, t-shirts, or anything else. Pick one word from each item, and write a poem that includes all of the words.
2. Write a poem from the point of view of an object. Then read it to someone and see if they can guess what the item is.
Check out this link for more writing opportunities and activities!

The University of Pennsylvania’s Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the BioEYES Outreach team, and the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research is offering 7th-12th grade students, parents, and teachers an opportunity to learn about various biomedical research projects, the scientists behind the work, as well as career possibilities in this field. Join as an audience member for free! Follow this link to learn more about joining these sessions on Tuesdays at 10AM.

Listen Mindfully!

Ft. Coach Jones
It’s hard to listen and talk at the same time. Let’s remember to be kind and practice mindful listening. How? Find your inner quiet. You should be able to hear your own heart beat. Now focus on one sound outside your body. Listen to that sound, with focus, for a count of 15. You have just taught yourself how to do mindful listening, so teach someone else! Listen and be heard.
