Hello, Gaucho parents & families!

As the holidays approach, this email includes information on Thanksgiving and winter break campus closures, UCSB's most recent national and global recognitions, a highlight of career services resources for students, and more.

Reminders & Announcements

Planning ahead for holiday travel? During Thanksgiving break, the dining commons will close after lunch at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 and reopen Sunday, December 1 at 5 p.m. Front desks will be closed during the break.

Residence halls will officially close Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m. for winter break. Students will receive detailed information about winter break policies from Campus Housing. Students who would like to stay in Campus Housing during winter break must register by Friday, December 8 and pay the $500 Winter Break Housing Contract fee.

Residence halls will reopen Sunday, January 5 at 10 a.m for the start of winter quarter. The first winter quarter meal available in the dining commons will be Sunday evening at 5 p.m.

University and Community Housing will host a webinar on housing options for the 2025-26 school year on Wednesday, November 27 at 5 p.m. Register here for more details. If you are unable to attend live, visit this page to access the recording after the webinar.

Veterans Day Ceremony, November 11 at 11:00 a.m.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1649 and the Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation will host the Santa Barbara Veterans Day Ceremony including a performance by the UCSB Color Guard and guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Tim Downing, Department Chairman for the UC Santa Barbara Army ROTC Surfrider Battalion.

Resource of the Month: Career Services

The UC Santa Barbara Career Services Digital Resources Toolkit provides students and alumni with easy access to online career development tools. It includes resources for major exploration, job searching, resume building, and interview skills. The toolkit features subscriptions to platforms such as Handshake, Big Interview, Resume AI and Big Interview, which are tailored to help students enhance their career readiness. These resources are designed to empower students to develop essential professional skills and gain confidence in navigating the competitive job market.
